We chose a bad day to go, there was a Christmas fare on in a marquee in the grounds and the place was packed out with every available member of staff busy in the restaurant, so there was no one mannig the reception, so, we did as the notice on the door said and asked a member of staff to check us in, and although she was rushed of her feet she got us checked in along with another couple who had also arrived. That was the only delay we had during our two night stay. The room (Sage) was warm, comfortable and very clean. The food was top notch too apart an amour plated topping on the steak pie, but the steak was as tender and tasty as you like. The staff were spot on, very polite and attentive without being overly so.
We really our stay at this hotel, I can’t find anything to fault them.
The accommodations was lovely, it’s like a little village , every room had its own front door and an outside seating area.
We had robes as well as very large fluffy towels.
We ate in the restaurant on the night the food was wonderful as was the breakfasts, with no chero process products it was just perfect.
Lovely room. We were in Thyme. Small but very comfortable for a couple of nights. Very handy for Beamish museum. Fabulous food in restaurant both evenings and breakfast in the conservatory was also excellent. Lovely beer garden with the most amazing hanging baskets I have ever seen. Little shed areas with heaters made it great to chill after dinner. All staff encountered were great. If I had to give a negative I would say I wish could have turned off the outside light over the door as it was quite bright during the night but certainly didn't ruin the stay.
