DoubleTree by Hilton York

The hotel was cold in the rooms and public areas. The restaurant was also cold, the food was tepid at breakfast and ala carte dinner. The coffee was just warm from the machine. I heard others making remarks regarding temperature of the property at check out and the receptionist gave the same stock response to all, clearly practised so I am only to assume this is not being resolved.

Good check in, room ok lights very dim, not as clean as it could be, staff very nice and breakfast was superb.

Efficient check in,comfortable accommodation. The hotel was cold in some places, guests had coats on in some communal areas . On the whole though a lovely relaxing stay .

We paid for a Hilton hotel as a treat we would normally stay in a Premier Inn but cheapness ! However we feel it wasn’t a Hilton experience! The bathroom wasn’t very clean, hair in the sink and skirting boards full of dust , the toilet roll holder was hanging off so every time it was used the paper fell off ! The toilet seat slipped to the side every time it was sat on ! The wardrobe door was hanging off, and had to be adjusted after every use !! Small things but very annoying all the same.

We stayed in room 55 which was the 2 room family room. It was up two flights of stairs with no lift so had to carry newborn up and down along with our bags. The room is a dump. It hasn’t had a make over in a very long time. Old wallpaper peeling away. Old headboards and not what I would have expected from a 4 star hotel. I actually probably want some money back after paying 140 a night . The food for breakfast was Ok , wasn’t hot and not a great deal of selection. The main entrance and the restaurant had nice modern interior

The rooms we were allocated was next to garbage collection and was an eyesore going in and out of it

The room was nice but the bed mattress was far too hard and uncomfortable, this led to a sleepless night for both of us. The room was changed for us without any fuss the next morning, when i was also given a parking space. We decided to drive out of town, but when we returned my parking space was taken by someone else, leaving me nowhere to park. Then at 6.15am the fire alarm sounded and we were evacuated out into the pouring rain, another sleep affected night. There was no explanation of why the alarm went off. Because of all this and the poor weather we decided to cut our stay short by one night.

Great location and breakfast.

Massive family room, very convenient. Excellent location. Not very easy of hauling large suitcases up multiple flights of stairs… but the room made it worth the climb!

Adequate hotel. Location was good, easy walking distance to the centre of York. Beds were not very comfortable, quite hard. Bathroom was small and not very good. Room was very noisy, as it looked out over a busy road. Wi-fi quality was poor, insufficient for even basic browsing.

Breakfast horrible eggs just like rubber, bacon tough and nut right warm. Properly was dated and chipped wood, floor in corridor had big dips in it so if you were unsteady on your feet you could have hurt yourself.

Very good location and the room was very spacious, however the breakfast was not good. Had to wait for items to come out and the bacon looked like it had been boiled. The coffee was in a flask and very weak. Not what I have experienced at other hotels in the chain.

Limited parking at the property & cannot reserve a space prior to arrival. Rooms are located across different buildings so you may need to leave the main building to get to your room

Very enjoyable staff. Local to restaurants and walking distance to Christmas Market.

Terrible noise from parties below unbearable. Deluxe room shouldn’t be right about function rooms. You expect to pay a bit more and get a better experience. This definitely wasn’t the case. Good location though. Two shocking nights sleep.

Hotel was lovely and in a good location for all our sight seeing and shopping . Our room was spacious and clean .

Staff and quality of room great, however, no tv remote in room and staff couldn't provide a replacement. The cleanliness of the room could have been a lot better too.

I'll start by saying the staff are lovely, welcoming, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great, everything included you could wish for. However, the room we were put in (32) was situated at the back end of nowhere up and down stairs to get to with incomplete handrails and a spongy floor for my mum to tackle. A large step down in to our room. The carpet was loose between the bathroom and the room, causing my mum to trip but luckily not fall in the night, the floor was very uneven. Gaping hole between sockets in the wall and dreadful door repair. The toilets downstairs by the bar: cheaply painted doors with no handle, the toilet roll holder falling off, loose toilet seat, no actual buttons to press to flush and the rusty bin foot pedal was now just a metal prong no the pedal I assume it was broken off. Shuffle board, lack of sand and a piece of wood shoved down the side which was the broken piece from the end I'd assume. We love the Hilton chain but will most certainly not stay at this one again. Hotel is in a very good location & main areas of the hotel are very nice. However our room was across the carpark, up some very wet stairs. The corridor to the room & the room itself smelt a bit musty. Room was spilt on 2 floors with very steep, narrow stairs to get up. Main issue was no housekeeping on our stay - which there should have been. When we reported this to the man on reception that evening, he just said he would let that team know.!!!! The lady the next day at checkout was much more appologetic & helpful.
