another relaxing stay at this lovely country pub

Excellent service and pub food was excellent. Convenient location to Lake District and Levens Hall. Lovely area and very safe.

Everything about our stay at the Hare and Hounds was 10/10. From the warm welcome,best welcome book and tray lovely clean bathroom and comfy bed to the excellent breakfast all was faultless. We can't wait to visit again.

This was a cute place to stay! Quiet área and friendly staff! Breakfast the next morning was really good! The hotel had a lot of charm! Would stay here again. 😀

We love staying here, we have stayed at least four times now, lovely location, excellent rooms, lovely touches provided, fresh coffee, brownies, gorgeous bath house products in the bathroom. Excellent breakfast provided, great homely pub to have a drink and food.

Lovely pub, room was great, clean tidy and a little mini fridge with water and fresh milk. Bed was comfy. Cafetiere provided too. Food was very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We hadn't booked for dinner but they provided a little table for us which was great. I recommend booking a table as it gets very busy. We stayed on a Friday night. Good access to many of the lakes attractions and some good walks nearby. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

Exceptional accommodation, and service. Comfortable bed, rooms finished to a very high standard More choices in the restaurant menu, would have been welcome Specials board maybe. Excellent location for what we had planned to do.

A fab stay at the hare and hounds. What a fabulous friendly pub with great helpful staff. Food was fantastic. Our room was spacious, clean and had beautiful views. We will definitely be back and couldn't recommend more to anyone wanting a base to stay for great walks and villages surrounding.

Heather the manager was very friendly and welcoming. We got our drinks at the bar and confirmed our stay and we had a lovely evening meal. The room was spacious and comfortable with a shower and bath.It was very quiet.Breakfast in the morning was great and heather made us feel so at home. Definitely would recommend a stay.

The staff were amazing as soon as we walked in, they will do their up most to ensure you are satisfied. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, both were really good. Bed was super comfy also. Would stay and and recommend. Thank you

My wife and I stayed here, as it was halfway, en-route to our final destination, Aberdeen. It started very well - comfy room, quiet location and very friendly staff. Had dinner in the restaurant - my medium rare steak was incinerated and virtually inedible. The steak was replaced - much, much better, second time around - disappointing that the kitchen didn't do it right the first time - waste of a rib-eye steak/loss of profit for the pub. This next section is nothing to do with the Hare & Hounds directly. Our car was involved in an incident in the pub car park - some guys had been drinking at pub - they got in their car, smashed into our car and careered over the embankment. Police were involved etc but our car was left immobile - rear quarter smashed and a huge hole in the tyre. We finally crawled into bed, only to find our room was above the kitchen - the ma-hussive kitchen extraction system made sleep impossible until it was shut down at 2330hrs... We spoke with staff and they were most apologetic - mmm, an apology after the fact is useless for the lack of sleep. On a positive note, breakfast was excellent.

Lovely room at the "Local". Clean, comfortable, welcoming. Friendly hepful staff. Food at the restaurant is great... but make a reservation, word has gotten out! Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

As with our past stays, lovely people who run and work at the pub make it a pleasure to stay - good choice of drinks and food (well prepared as always), excellent breakfast, comfortable well equipped room with an excellent bed.

Great small country pub with friendly staff and excellent food and drinks. Don’t miss the included full English breakfast, it’ll get you going for a busy day of sight seeing.

We went here with the family, the host took very good care of us. Nice pub, food in the restaurant and breakfast, everything was good. The rooms were great. We had a great stay.
