Excellent check-in experience. I asked for a certain type of room and they did their best to accommodate. Although the hotel is a bit 'Bangy' the rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. The corridors and rooms are looking a bit dated now but there is a major refurb going on that should sort that. Perhaps they can put soft-close bedroom doors on as well. Parking for residents is a rip-off.

Lovely, comfortable and warm room despite the weather conditions!! Price was incredible, breakfast fresh with plenty of range as usual. Use of the pool, steam room and sauna was a perk and really made the stay perfect! Fabulous weekend!

Came for a relaxing night away, spa facilities excellent, I am staying in room 316, Geordie couple came in loud , arguing , shouting for over an hour , rang reception who came, they still continued to have a disagreement, still awake to early hours , annoyed at their disregard to others , bad night sleep and now awoken from 8 am to someone hammering a nail and its still going . NOT HAPPY AT BOOKING HERE FOR A RELAXING NIGHT ! Its my husband’s birthday tomorrow-

Beautiful hotel in a great location just across the bridge from restaurants and down the river to town.
The views out of the window were spectacular of the river, the cathedral and castle with vast colourful sunsets.
Breakfast food was plentiful and good quality. A nice relaxing experience.
The room was spacious, modern and clean.
Overall a great stay!
The only downsides were :
PARKING £14 per day so £42 for 3 nights. Seemed excessive especially as no discount for longer stays. Couldn’t even find a space Saturday evening.
Smaller niggles were no tv remote (easily resolved), not keen on the veggie based soap and shampoo (personal taste) and not a great bar food selection however they were happy to accommodate meals in the bar from the “room service menu”. The fish and chips and tikka were very tasty but so glad we ate them in the bar and didn’t smell the room out.

The service was immaculate, from the friendly welcome to the swift taxi at checkout. The room was well appointed. and the whole hotel was pleasant. The pool and facilities were lovely. What we noticed most of all was how restful it was, the staff were really quiet, we couldn't hear the children in the next room, but above all the curtains were incredibly effective: completely dark; this is a first for me in a hotel! We got upgraded to a river view for free, but it's probably work what you'd pay. Also, totally epic breakfast!

We have stayed several times before and this is the first time we have found the room to be dirty especially the bathroom which had hair left in the bath. I did tell reception and they gave us some drinks but it was a disappointment.
The rooms are tired but due to be refurbished in the new year

Lovely stay waking distance to Durham centre. Staff extremely friendly and helpful.
Plastic water bottle in room when would have preferred glass. Parking reasonable and ev charging for those they need it. Not 90 min charging time then £10 penalty.
Pool a bit cold for me but good for most. Hot tub, steam room and sauna. All good.

The hotel is screaming for renovation and is overpriced for its current condition. Little things like drawing pad not replaced plus elevator plus filthy carpets Breakfast 19.90 c’mon!
