Had a lovely 2 night stay at The Beresford Hotel. My daughter and I shared a sea view twin room with ensuite. On arrival it looks quite run down and parking isnt great and is limited, however if you get a space they print a sign stating your name and reg number for £5 per night. This ensures you a parking space. We had an Assistance Dog and a retired Assistance Dog, who is now old and nothing was too much trouble and thevwere made to feel welcome, along with us. The beds were comfortable and the room was well equipped, personally the small table and chairs were brilliant for me as I like to write. The bathroom was clean and had all you needed. The seaview was amazing and the cost of thr room was fantastic. We will be returning again soon. Thank you.

The hotel was actually disgusting and I had to check out! I didn’t get a good feel when we went to see if the rooms were ready as the entrance had litter around it - the lobby smelt fousty and the member of staff was just in jeans and a t-shirt! I thought that when we returned the room may be better but sadly not. The carpets were heavily stained & marks on doors and walls and stair wells in corridors - there was the smell of cannabis coming out of other rooms. When we got into our room we were not overly impressed but had to dump our bags as had to be somewhere. When we returned the bed sheets were not fitted properly - there were no towels - the tv didn’t work - the shower door broke (but managed to fix after a while) - the actual shower head came away from the connection - there was no hot water - the towel rail was so rusty - the plug hadn’t been cleaned. There was bird muck on the window that had clearly been there for ages! The carpet was starting to thread - the wardrobe was not pushed back to the wall and behind it was awful, felt I needed to keep my shoes on & would have rather stayed in my car. I managed to find somewhere else for the night. The pictures on the site were nothing like what was expected. I said I was checking out, explained why, showed pictures & asked for a refund. They said they were sorry I felt this way and I needed to ask the booking agent for a refund. I knew it was going to be basic but you expect clean comfortable standards - it was awful.

Was not impressed! Had to pay extra for parking and dog. No facilities in the room or hotel to make a drink. Very noisy, children running around all night. Dark and dingy with curtains falling off. Would not go back if you paid me!

The only thing about the Beresford hotel was that the sheets were clean,the sink had no plug, there was no soap in the sink dispenser, the shower curtain was dirty, the TV didn't work, I had to go to reception to get a towel, the second window wouldn't close and there was no breakfast not even coffee available in the morning in one word dreadful

Terrible stay one room was given had broken bed second room replacement had broken tapes no hot water not as advertised no toilet roll had to ask several times lucky always carry some and this was through out whole hotel staff didn't seem to want to know about issues or care only stayed as didn't have funds for anoutha

A tired hotel in need of modernisation. Few staff, little parking available, even simple things like no TV in the room. Our room had a skylight that couldn't be closed off so light in the room very early and the skylight was a magnet for the seagulls. Would recommend looking at other options before booking here.

This hotel was a disgrace and Hotel.com should not be affiliated with it in any way. The bed was broken, the room smelled strongly of smoke, the carpets were digesting and it didn’t feel safe. There were 2 guests who showed me photos on they’d taken of a large amount of mouldy, rotten food from the kitchen and the bar area had dirty mattresses piled up from floor to ceiling. One of the ladies had been bitten by insects/bugs during her few hours in the lobby. I didn’t stay and ended up spending a small fortune to book into the Premier Inn next door. I didn’t even ask for a refund at the time as the ladies had been trying to get one for hours. Do not visit this hotel, the pictures are totally misleading.

How hotels like this stay open are a mistery. The hotel is in terrible condition and it's nothing like the pictures on the website shows. There were mattresses just sitting near the staircase leading up to the rooms. The area where the bar should have been, was a derelict and there was no bar whatsoever. The room was nothing like you would expect for the price. The soap holders in the bathroom were empty. You wouldn't pay more than £30 should you see the state of the place before booking. Avoid at all cost.

First of all, the manager was very helpful - a nice guy from Egypt. So I want to make that clear - it's not his fault, or his wife or toddler who were in the lobby a lot while I waited 45 mins to check in. But the rooms were just so bad. Stains on the floor, tiny 12" TV on the wall and so hot I had to sit there with no clothes on in order to tolerate it. Upon which one fo the staff walked into my room without knocking to ask if I had towls. Again, I was naked. No, there were no towls and I had to dry myself with my own clothes. I don't think they had a bar or any ammienties, it was more like a run down hostel with seperate bedrooms. I had the view of a skip with a filthy mattress in it, I kid you not. It was so bad I checked out after a couple hours and booked a hotel further up the road which was much better. I didn't ask for my money back becuase I should have checked the reviews before. It's totally my fault for booking without doing so. If you are a young couple on a really tight budget and don't mind being really hot and sleeping somewhere not very nice, this is a cheap option, but for everyone else I would look elsewhere. Honestly, I would say this is a 1 star hotel, and I'm rating 2 stars becuase the manager was nice. Again, I just want to be clear the manager was really nice and looked crestfallen when I said he was checking out. He was a really nice guy and it's not his fault the hotel he works at is bad.

Absolutely disgusting property. Health and safety would have a field day. Hallways strewn with duvets, covers, towels. Dirty cups and empty cans. Leadsover the hallway floor. Matresses blocking hallways. No soap in dispensers for simple bathroom hygiene. No protective covers on mattresse, just a fitted sheet on top. Windows with no handles. 8 parking spaces that you can't prebook, but if you are lucky it costs £10 per night. DO NOT STAY HERE

When we arrived there was nobody at reception to check us in so had to ring the main office then someone did turn up.We had to use 3 flights of steep stairs with a heavy door to open at the top as the lift was out of order.The room on the 3rd floor (314) smelt musty,Carpet worn away by the bedroom door showing the gripper rod and nails,Wall was damaged in a couple of places,Mattress had no protector on it, Staff said they didn't have one when I asked for one,TV damaged screen,Room hot and when I asked for a different room they said none available and that they would bring a fan to our room which never happened. Bathroom looked like it had been recently improved but on the first two nights we had no hot water and there was no lock on the bathroom door.This hotel is not fit for purpose

Most awful stay I’ve ever had! Facilities non existent- no bath mat, no hand towels, no shower gel, no hand soap! Shower nearly got tepid in temperature! Toilet had a leak, wet floor!! Window clasp disintegrated- big H&S issue!!!! That was just our room - only decent thing was our sea view. Staff pretended to be helpful. I did mention to gent on desk that it’s a shame you’ve had brand new carpet fitted yet No one is bothered about hoovering it! The front window displays of laundry is not a welcome you want to see…. Avoid at all costs. Wished I’d spent less and booked in next door at The Premier Inn

Very polite staff but the property is very tired and not well maintained with 1 room not having any soap and beds be stored in the open at the stairwell. The rooms both needed a deep hoover around the edges. Parking is also very expensive at £10 a night with no guarantee of keeping the spot if you leave. The pictures of the rooms are not representative of the rooms received
