The Walnut Tree Hotel

Friendly staff. Unfortunately we both woke up with small red bite marks on our bodies. When I opened the curtains in the morning , I found that the lace was very dirty which made on both windows. Made it feel like the entire room was dirty. Disappointing

Staff were courteous. The room was spacious, but very tired. The carpet was stained and there was black mould stains all over the bath/shower, with a stained shower curtain. The bedside lamps were thick with dust and I had fiddle to get them to get them to switch on. The TV was also switched off at the wall so I had to go behind to switch it on. There didn't appear to be many guests over Christmas so it was a shame that it felt I had been put in a room that wasn't prepared fully for someone to stay in. The bed was comfortable and the linen of good quality and clean. I was disappointed to be given a room directly over the bar, facing the main road as it was quite noisy. Luckily I was literally just sleeping there as I was visiting family over Christmas. This was my second stay at this hotel and was disappointed on this occasion. If it wasn't for it being walking distance to my family's home, I would have stayed for a lot less at the Premier Inn. Previously I believe I was in room 11, this time I was in room 7. For this occasion, it was clean and comfortable to sleep in, but i wouldn't recommend it as a room to spend any more time in.

Helpful staff a good individually cooked breakfast and a spacious room.

The Walnut Tree is the finest example of a superb family-run hotel and has the highest standards across all its services. I received a lovely welcome at check-in and was shown to my room (rather than being directed) and given a summary of services and mealtimes. I was there for 3 nights and had dinner on 2 of them. Credit to the team of chefs for beautiful food and a well thought menu. Parking is plentiful and felt secure and despite my room facing a busy road, it was quiet and comfortable and I slept very well. My trip was for business and I would not hesitate to book here again if my work brings me back this way. Thanks to Daniel, Sophie, Chelsea and everyone else on the team for my welcome. Lizzie

Staff very helpful and friendly. Extremely spacious room with a good sized bed and comfy couch. Good storage. Lots of parking available on site and food was good.

Good service dispute being very short of staff

In the 1st instance the hotel was very nice then we went to the room to find lots of cobwebs high and low down in the room also skirting boards were very dusty i dont think cleaners know what they are doing , apart from that we had a pleasant stay staff were amazing, restaurant was really nice food was excellent staff were very accommodating. Could not fault the service would definitely stay again was nice and relaxing.

We have used this hotel on several occasions to break a journey from the north-west to Cornwall. Where it was made to feel welcome and have enjoyed larger than average rooms, easy parking and superb dinners and breakfast. The hotel is very conveniently placed for the motorway and seems to be progressively improving the accommodation.

Nice room and facilities, very nice helpful staff, freshly cooked breakfast with healthy options.

nice traditional hotel, room was nicely appointed and quiet, extra touches were nice e.g. the iron and ironing board, well stocked tea and coffee, biscuit, comfy bed, reasonably modern bathroom with shower, hot water always available. Restaurant meal choices were above my expectation and quite different to the usual pub fayre.

I enjoyed my 1 night stay. It was in a very convenient location between Bridgewater and Taunton, had very helpful staff and good food. Bed was comfortable. The extra perk was the location is near to Pyne’s which is a super farm shop.

Great facillities for reasonable price.

Was only there for one night but reception staff were great as were all others. Beer and food also good. Already booked for same engagement next year.

The bar and restaurant have excellent food and service. The staff are great. But the rooms smell of mold and mildew. They have no safes.

The hotel looked tired and of need of an update. The room was a lovely size but again it looked tired and in need of an update. The food was great but on one occasion we sat for over 3 and a half hours to just have a 2 course evening meal, service was very poor. It looked like they were very under staffed in the kitchen. But all in all a relaxing stay was had.
