The Walnut Tree Hotel

The room was excellent. However, I stayed on the hottest day of the year and the room was sweltering and unfortunately the hotel had run out of fans. Not the end of the world though............the bar was airconditioned and the Otter ale was fab.

Fantastic large room,excellent onsuite very comfy BED. Very helpful member of staff I was able to book in earlier than usual.

Very comfortable, huge room and good value.

Very handy independent hotel great for a stop off on the way to Cornwall, just off the M5 but quiet and comfortable. Lots of free parking with EV charging. Friendly staff, good value and really great food and breakfast in the restaurant, highly recommended! The executive room we had was huge!

Pleasant stay

We stayed two nights and found all the staff very helpful, food for breakfast and evening meals was very good. Room was clean and spacious - a most enjoyable stay.

Lovely newly renovated bathroom. Very large spacious room

Stayed in a junior suite. Very tired room. Bed comfy but carpet needed a wash. Furniture very worn and dirty in places. There was black mould around the corners of the bathroom ceiling . The shower needed descaling. The shower curtain was black around the bottom. The shower curtain plastic rings broke. The room had a horrible musty smell and didn’t smell fresh. The window frames on the inside were black with bits of black everywhere. Didn’t enjoy the experience at all. Breakfast was included but didn’t want to experience that.

Food was nicely presented and there was a good choice of breakfast and dinner options. Very clean. Staff very helpful and friendly. Good parking and EV charging available. Part of the hotel has been very freshly painted with new carpets which was lovely. Would recommend.

Although spacious, the room at our arrival was very cold. After having asked twice about it and that we needed two towels as we were two people, yet no heating was switched on. Later in the day, after a long day out, we spoke to another member of staff who final managed to give us two towels and switch on the heating. The hotel is very very old but it reflected on the price.

Rooms are dated. Good breakfadt cooled fresh.

Its a lovely old place. Granted it isnt a new build, but the beds are comfortable and you get a bath. And lovely and toasty in the winter. Perfect location for wither taunton or Bridgwater and a free car park.

Everything was superb

Staff were polite and helpful. Dinner and breakfast good. The room was a good size, however in need of decorative maintenance. There were cleanliness issues, dirty bathroom door with spashes and a hole. Bathroom sink plug and overflow dirty. Varous bits under bed.

Excellent very large room, Netflix on the tv. We also had two comfortable chairs and a table. Plenty of storage if required Breakfast was very good with a large selection which was very fresh. Pleasant staff who were helpful. A very enjoyable weekend, thank you.

When I came into the hotel and was given my room key, the first thing I noticed was the smell of dampness in the room. The carpet had burned marks all over it and stains and in places was missing carpet and built bar floor. The wallpaper was torn off the walls. The room was filthy dirty had not been cleaned and full of dust and dirt smoked disgusting so did the toilet and shower. There was sick and vomit on the side of the wall dried in there are multiple stains on the roof on the walls of the hotel room and over the bed. The mattress was completely filthy. Looked about 20 years old. I would not let a dog sleep in the room or even a cat the heating was switched off and did not work because of the pipework had been leaking. They were visible. Water stains all over the floor. All of the paint was peeling off the walls and ceilings and there was black mould on the windows of the hotel room. I went straight back to the hotel front desk and said the room is nothing like the ones in your photographs and I was told the hotel had not been redone for a long time and they know there is issues with the hotel and they’re trying to upgrade some of the rims when they can afford to do it however this is just the way their rooms are right now I asked and demanded to be moved to a different room. I was then shown another room which was even worse there is no elevator in the hotel room a lot of stairs and the hotel room smells of cigarettes and dogs and there was rubbish all through the hallwa
