Meltemi Excelsior Suites and Spa

Room was lovely, the pool was a great touch and the staff were very, very helpful and friendly

We stayed in one of the Excelsior suites. Highly recommended but the rest of the hotel was lovely and all spotlessly clean. It's well situated with shops, bars, restaurants and tavernas a few minutes walk away. The beach is a 5 minute walk with loads of bars (try Tranquillo - cocktails are amazing) and restaurants along the beach front. The bus stop is a few minutes walk from the hotel. All buses go into and out of Fira, which is about 25 minutes away so easy to get around the island. Taxis however are very expensive. The hotel staff are amazing. I asked in the evening if they could provide a drying rack for towels and swimwear and when we came back from breakfast the following morning it was there. We also had a medical emergency and my partner needed to go to hospital the day before we were due to leave. The .receptionist was going to ring for an ambulance but one of the staff, Yanis, said it would be quicker for him to drive us there. He did so and waited until he knew my partner was ok and was being admitted before he left us. He also helped me liaise with the hospital staff as his English was excellent. This really was service over and above what you would expect and I am very grateful to Yanis in particular but also to all the other lovely staff who were so kind and helpful. For the hotel and its facilities, the staff and its location I would highly recommend it.
