The room was spotless and the staff was very helpful and responsive. However, the room we had was not a 4-star quality. We stayed at the Junior Olive suite and while it was located in a beautiful outdoor setting, the room itself was very old and tired. In addition, the shower was in the bedroom with no frosted glass. So, when taking a shower, the other person relaxing in bed has a full frontal and side view. As I prefer having privacy when showering, this felt very weird.

Staff, breakfast, location

We had an Apartment away from the hotel which was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Close to Piazza Maggiore and Quadrilatero area where there was some amazing food on offer. We visited the rooftop bar once, just a pity it was November as it looked lovely and perfect for a late drink in Spring or Summer.

our apartment is in a separate building, so no hotel amenities. the room is very spacious overall.

Perfect boutique hotel, the staff ( every single one of them) were amazing, they were polite, eager to help and always smiling and laughing. The room was very well appointed, quiet and clean. The bar on the ground floor was very inviting and cozy. The bartenders were great and very friendly. Unfortunately the restaurant was booked solid (make sure to reserve in advance) and the rooftop terrace was closed (probably due to time of year). Hotel location was walking distance to most of the sights. We would definitely stay here again!

Cleanliness of room excellent. Location excellent. For a 4* hotel it was tired in many areas. Also although you had shampoo, there is no conditioner or body lotion. There were plastic cups in the bathroom. Pillows were poor quality. The rooftop bar area was a nice addition and service and choice excellent. Breakfast adequate. Staff throughout hotel extremely friendly and helpful. Overall I feel expensive rates for the quality received.

Das Badezimmer hatte keine Steckdose. So etwas habe ich noch nie erlebt!!! Das Zimmer war sehr klein. Die Lage und das Frühstück sind sehr gut.

On our first visit to Bologna we figured we would stay at the hotel Metropolitan because of its location in the city as it was fairly central to all the interesting areas and gave us a great place to start to explore from. One thing to note is that it is a bit of a walk from the train station, but the walk is nice and is mostly under porticoes which made it much more enjoyable. The hotel itself was very clean and nice and the room was set up very well. I did read from other reviewers about the odd shower/bathroom arrangement and I need to report that it was indeed a bit odd for us as well. Once we figured it out it was not an issue though and we got along with the bathroom/shower just fine. The hotel staff was very friendly and the rooftop lounge was a great place to spend the later evenings and sometimes the late afternoons. The rooftop lounge had very nice views with good drinks and snacks. The breakfast downstairs was good, but I would only rate it a 6 out of 10 due to the lack of selection. I will tell you that the coffee was fantastic though! We quickly fell into the timing of the Bologna locals which included a light lunch around 12-1pm, an Apertivo around 5-6pm with a very small snack and then dinner at 7-8pm. This is not our normal timing (being from the US), but once you get into the flow it works quite well and you can tell the time by the packed crowds at either the bars and/or restaurants. The hotel was great!
