It was very hard to communicate from the ryokan since most tourists do not have Japanese phone number. We will not coming back.

if you want to live in a Japanese-style hotel, look no further. The facilities and staff are outstanding. Tatami floors. Futon beds. Serene property. Hot outdoor soaking tubs. A really nice change of pace from Tokyo.

I have zero frame of reference for this review as this was my first time staying at a ryokan. We went in the middle of summer and most of the facility, save the rooms themselves, isn’t air conditioned. We weren’t expecting ac in a traditional Japanese inn, so that was fine. It was just a bit stuffy during check in. The baths were clean and well kept. Definitely listen for the train before walking from the changing room to the bath or you might give some random peeps some random peeps. I immediately fell in love with onsens and bathed 4 times in 2 days! Dinner and breakfast were served in the room and while I enjoyed dinner, my wife and kids did not. Again, it was traditional Japanese food and I have no frame of reference as an ignorant westerner; so all I can say is that the sashimi was great, the abalone was very unique (not as scary to eat as it looked) and the bulk of both meals featured dishes of gel-like texture (which my wife doesn’t find palatable) When looking a reviews online, it seemed like guests were given a choice between two main courses, but during our stay, we only had one option. You can ask for the kids meal if texture is a big deal for you. Anyway it was a very cool experience that I’m glad we got a change to be a part of. I appreciate the staff using English where possible to talk to us.

Loved this place and unique experience they offer. Onsens are very relaxing. Food and presentation are amazing.

Lovely location pretty close to the open air museum. It has a great private and public onsen. The staffs are very friendly.

The perfect stay for us for a night. The onsens weee beautiful, both public and private. It wasn’t too busy, so most of the public ones even ended up being private anyway. They were also all tattoo friendly. The staff was so sweet and very friendly! You could tell it was an older hotel, so some of the areas could smell a tad musty, but it was a fantastic value for the price. The rooms were large and comfortable, and the zen room was a must visit. Definitely would stay again.

Super peaceful atmosphere with tons of private onsen, the staff was also so kind and helpful. They only issue was ants in the bed, but overlooking that it was a beautiful ryokan :)

I would consider myself a foodie, but I had a really hard time with most of the meals. I appreciate tradition, and I think they could still present traditional food, but they are trying so hard to create upscale finicky food food it just doesn’t land. There is a lot of fish in most of the meals and so for westerners some of the flavours were quite shocking. Again, I am a foodie travelled all over Asia and I’ve tried things out out of my comfort zone, but they have to find a balance so that people who are not used to that kind of food can at least enjoy part of the meal. I would not recommend this hotel as it is in desperate need of a lot of renovations. Furniture has stains. You can see mould on the walls from the moisture, and there is a smell of dampness throughout the hotel. The Hot Springs was probably the nicest experience at the hotel.

Ryokan avec un acceuil et un service fantastiques, on baigne a 100% dans la cultire et la tradition japonaise. Plusieurs choix de onsen sur place prives ou publics, certains accessibles toute la nuit. Nous avons pu manger des ormeaux ce qui nest pas courant. Il faut toutefois aime la cuisine japonaise et aime mange cette cuisine au petit dejeuner ( jai eu un peu de mal)😊

Stayed here one night and what a fabulous, hot spring Onsen ryokan And the food was absolutely delicious for dinner and breakfast and the service was spectacular but we did not have a very good view because it was in the back but overall it was a wonderful experience so thank you and great job to the staff and the food

Spent one fabulous night enjoying the private outdoor onsen and exquisite in room dining experience. This Ryokan has pickup and drop off at the train station and you will need it. The location is somewhat remote and very hilly so plan to stay on site. Perfect for couples, the Zen relaxation room is lovely also.

Musashino bekkan offered us a perfect ryokan experience. Travelling as a family with two younger kids, the hospitality was amazing. Our room was beautiful, with views to enjoy. Tea was always available in the room. The kaiseki style dinners were an experience themselves, fresh, amazing flavors, beautiful set up and we definitely were not left hungry. The kids were also taken into consideration very nicely. We enjoyed the onsen, very calm and relaxing! Would definitely recommend, our experience exceeded our expectations!

Beautifully decorated property, that encapsulates the Ryokan feel. Outside area is only accessible for the Onsen, which is lovely even if the train line is quite close. Traditional food with no options is as ever, an acquired taste. Rate this property highly as it is quite a special place.

Beautiful rooms, very quiet and relaxing outdoor Onsen, and traditional breakfast and dinner. Easy transportation. The hotel had free shuttle from and to train station. Excellent service

Wow. This was amazing. I don’t know where to even begin. The ryokan was absolutely beautiful. Yes, like some other reviews said, it was a bit dated but honestly I’m totally ok with that as it keeps the tradition alive. There were tatami floors throughout the ryokan. You are provided a yukata to go to the various onsens. It’s a smaller ryokan with perhaps around 21 rooms or so and that really keeps things intimate. The staff were so friendly and kind. Even if their English was limited, they were super helpful and used Google Translate to make communication easier. There were so many private onsens you could try that were intimate and beautiful. My partner and I loved it. We also spent way too long in the message room, there some really high end massage chairs that made it difficult to leave. The food was also next level, especially in presentation. They change your tea for the day and at night for dinner. We loved it.

The staff was amazing. The prepared meals were foods that we wouldn't have tried on our own. Great experience overall.

Incredible hospitality and ryokan experience. Very traditional and a wonderful way to experience and appreciate Japan and Japanese culture (11th time here and have done ryokan before). Extensive kaiseki and some dishes you would never find on a restaurant menu. Place is extremely clean albeit showing a bit wear - and - tear with facilities. Do book private onsen outside. 10/10

The staff here is fantastic. Loved the experience and would go back again!
