This is our second stay at Iberostar Tucan

This stay was disappointing mainly due to food poisoning experienced by 2 members of our party. Hotel claimed no one else had it and unless a Dr said it was food poisoning they would take no responsibility but we spoke to many other guests that also had someone in their party also fall ill. Animals at hotel are the best part and the hotel is very clean.

Fantastic beach

The room was clean, staff was polite and helpful.

Why people rank it 5 stars? The rooms are very outdated! You have only 1 outlet in the room and even that is by the TV. You unplug the Lamp and you use the charger. Absolutely no charges by the bed. The room is pretty small and the bathroom is super small. We traveled with 2 small children and it was very difficult to take a shower and use the bathroom or sink all the same time. If someone is at the sink - don’t open the door you’ll hit the person. If someone is using the toilet don’t open the door you’ll literally slam the door in their face. The shower is super small and claustrophobic, the lights are very small, yellow and just not enough. There is no shelf or space to place any of your shampoos or anything. The toilet clogged twice. There is no service by the pool or the beach area. No one will bring you any drinks, you have to go wait in line and get your drink. The entertainment could be better. All the entertainment ends at 10.30. For Xmas Eve entertainment the organizers were selling bottles of alcohol which would allow you to sit at the table. The bottle prices started at $120 US dollars and if you didn’t buy one you were meant to sit on the sides of the theater area. Once the show started more than 30 tables were empty but the organizers still didn’t allow anyone to sit and if someone attempted to do so they would be asked to move out of the area to the side.

Had to get the AC adjusted after the first night. Worked fine after that. Did not spend time at the pools - Just used the beach. Swimming in the ocean was great. Meals at buffet were good. Great afternoon snorkeling tour with the on-site company. Some good bird watching down by lovers beach and along the street outside the resort. Best birding if you can arrange it is at the golf course. Hotel staff were helpful and pleasant throughout the stay. We really enjoyed the evening violinist. Beds were comfortable and room was kept clean.

Great food and many restaurant options on site. Beach is beautiful. Rooms need a facelift but supposedly the hotel is closing Spring 2026 - Fall 2026 to upgrade the rooms. Drink varieties are a bit limited...but we didn't leave thirsty. I would stay there again.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the area was nice, and the food options and quality were good. The only downside was that the beach gets very crowded—if you don’t go early in the morning, it’s hard to find a spot.

Some pools were not so clean. The rooms are very outdated. The room gets very muggy and hot at night. So muggy the sheets and our clothes would feel wet. It smelled like mold/mildew in the room.

Beautiful grounds and super clean resort. The staff were all amazing. The room needs to be updated . The bathroom door opens up inside the bathroom and in the way of the sink. If you want to keep it open to just curl your hair or to let steam out when showering you can’t get bye it easily. The giant ceiling fan has only one setting. On or off. AC was locked down and set at 19 degrees Celsius but wouldn’t circulate through the room unless the fan was on high speed. No other setting. It was hard to sleep because the fan blows so hard. Need a medium and low setting or better cool air conditioning. Drinks were good and we had a good quality of liquor to choose from. Great entertainment during the day and evening in the theater. Good food and plenty of options. Did not do specialty restraints as we forgot to attend as we were having so much fun.

Property and nature was amazing.

Beautiful property grounds. Main pool does not have a swim up bar and no service, had to get out to go get drinks. The resort credit is not a real credit should be advertised as coupons for the resort. You can only use a little bit of the credit at certain places. The property raises prices if you use the credit. We were offered a massage from one of the employees for $128 and when we mentioned what the cost would be with the credit was told she would have to raise the price to $150 and we could get $25 off.

The amount of noise that came in every morning at 6:00 am was ridiculous . Construction trucks, bags of dirt, ply wood and drilling felt more like a construction site then a resort. We also got food poising and lost a day due to being sick . We informed staff and both our concern just to be told they are sorry and just smiled at us. Not a good experience.

Staff were very friendly. Wild life is very nice. Overall very nice place.

Clean room, good food, convenient layout of the hotel and good facilities. Beach and pool were also great. Restaurants were not overly crowded although sometimes they weren't open every day.
