Thon Hotel Polar

This hotel is located near the Airport bus stop (5 minutes walking). The hotel staffs are very nice and check in process is very fast. We got the room on level 9. The room is good, clean, nice view. However, the elevator of this hotel is able to go only at 8 floor so we have to carry our baggage to our floor. If you are not sure about your health or you travel with many bags, I would recommend you to ask staff to provide you other floor except 9.

Breakfast was great. Lots of choices of different types of breakfast, lots of it available, fresh and good quality.

Nel complesso alla fine la nostra permanenza è andata bene! Appena arrivati chi hanno dato una stanza al 6 piano (la 633), un piano puzzolente ed una stanza sporca, impolverata e con ancora del cibo degli ospiti precedenti! La cosa più grave è che il riscaldamento non era funzionante, problema non da poco visto che siamo a Tromsø a -16 gradi! Dopo aver fatto presente il tutto al receptionist, ci è stata data una nuova camera al terzo piano (business room) grande almeno 4 volte la precedente, pulita ma soprattutto con riscaldamento funzionante! Inizio da incubo ma tutto si è risolto positivamente! Molto buona la colazione ed anche l'angolo bar al piano terra dove si può usufruire liberamente di caffè, the ed acqua. La posizione dell'hotel è 10/10 nel cuore di Tromsø e alla luce di quanto ho raccontato mi sento di consigliare questo hotel, nonostante il prezzo non corrisponda ai servizi ricevuti (ma in Norvegia è tutto super caro).

La chambre était très confortable, l'hôtel très bien situé, le petit-déjeuner était excellent et le personnel de l'hôtel très aimable et professionnel. Je suis ravi de cet hôtel du centre de Tromsø.

Friendly helpful staff. Great value hotel. Would definitely use a Thon hotel again.

They arranged our room for two when in the beginning was booked for one.

It was a good location and very warm. Price includes breakfast and if you don’t need breakfast one date because you leave before 7am they won’t give you a refund and it is £23 per person. They offer a takeaway breakfast instead which was juice, fruit and a sandwich so not really very good for the price. A refund would have been better.

Excellent location to stay in, just behind Main Street and everything is walkable from the hotel.

Room was isolated and inaccessible. The room was far from lift and required us to carry 3 20kg+ suitcases and multiple bags up an extra two fleets of stairs to reach. We broke one of our suitcases wheels trying to carry it up. We asked hotel staff for help after they told us no room exchange was possible and they dismissed us saying “just empty out the suitcases to make it lighter and make a few trips” then we were told they wouldn’t help carry because “it’s not part of Norway culture”. Then upon checkout we asked for a later checkout as we realised the bags took a longer time to take down and were only given an extra 10 mins which didn’t cover mutiple trips. My little sister can’t carry heavy weight and my mum who has has ops back surgery was super concerned with the heavy lifting. Unacceptable service. Breakfast was lacking in variety too, and the room linen had minor stains and bathroom was old too. Corridors were had to navigate and seemed unclean due to carpeting.

I had an amazing stay! Great breakfast and excellent location. The room was also very comfortable and clean.

Incredible location, friendly and helpful staff and two back to back nights of the Northern Lights dancing across the Tromso skies. Highly recommended. Egon, the restaurant is fab. The Pizza buffet before 6pm is exceptional.

Great hotel. Great location

This property was extremely dingy, dated, and dirty. Hallway carpets and walls were old, and as such, looked filthy, despite what appeared to be staff’s best efforts. The lighting was depressing and dismal. Our room had stains on the curtains, streaks of wet marks down the walls, and hair in the sink when we arrived. Shower was a nightmare—way too small (despite there being a huge, empty, useless space adjacent to it), nowhere to put toiletries when showering, and guaranteed flooding across the bathroom floor when you opened the shower door to exit. Square, sharp soap dispenser in shower sliced open my shoulder when I bent down to grab something that had fallen. While online photos show the layout of the room accurately, they don’t reflect the condition of it. Reminded me of a dorm room last updated in 2001. On the plus side, the staff was extremely pleasant and the complimentary breakfast buffet was surprisingly amazing—perhaps better than any breakfast I’ve ever had at a hotel. Fresh, prepared directly in front of you, with a massive assortment of items. All in all, we were extremely disappointed in this hotel considering the price. It was slightly cheaper than other properties in the area, but given the choice again, we would have paid more to be elsewhere.

Lage hervorragend, alles fußläufig erreichbar. Erstes Zimmer sehr klein. Auf Nachfrage kostenloses Upgrade auf größeres Zimmer erhalten. Einziges Manko: kein Schrank, nur offene Fächer, wenig Ablagefläche. Eingeschlossenes Zimmer Frühstücksbuffet sehr zu empfehlen!

Vi var heldige og fik et dejligt værelse med flot udsigt. Rigtig god morgenmad og imødekommende personale.

The breakfast was excellent! Hot food, cold meats and cheeses and a good variety of fruit and pastries. First class for the money
