Lanzerac Hotel

The hotel is lovely however it needs some work. The rooms are outdated. The AC in my room didn’t work and after calling three times to have it resolved they ended up finally moving me to a room nearby to sleep. The staff needs some training. They were friendly but didn’t seem to know how to help.

The dining menu has great options no lie, but the front desk staff is just too busy to tend to your room service calls for inquiries and other related issues but overall it is a good place with a country side feel

Pool area a little small. Very disappointed that during our stay the pool was closed one afternoon to host a private party.

Spectacular stay. The staff is incredibly professional and the grounds are immaculate. The restaurants may have been the best part. We loved every minute.

The weather was amazing, and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly! The food and wine was also wonderful (3 different restaurants available to eat in!), and a wonderfully idyllic pool area. Highly recommend and we can’t wait to go back!

This is an exceptional hotel and having travelled to over ninety countries, and having stayed at many unique five star properties, I do not hesitate to number this hotel as one of the select properties. The grounds around the hotel, are fantastic for strolling and you can tour the vineyards and see the grapes being cultivated and the area around the outdoor pool is beautiful. You also have a private patio area adjacent to the hotel room and access to internal courtyards. The hotel is set on a stunning wine farm which goes back over 300 years but has very modern buildings with great ambience. It offers easy access to hiking trails and one can rent a bicycle to access the nearby countryside. I would recommend the e bicycles as the one speed bicycles are heavy, don’t handle well and require a lot of hard work to cycle up and down the rolling hills near the hotel. (Think of the heavy, utilitarian old-style bikes of Amsterdam; a moto cross or mountain bike would be much more appropriate. But this is a minor complaint. The breakfast buffet is exceptional and the dining room and the pub also offers exceptional food. The mini bar is offered as a complimentary service and there are some exceptional offerings. The complimentary glass of wine provided upon check in is likewise of exceptional quality. I loved this hotel so much that for the duration of my stay, I seldom left the grounds. Although I didn’t use the spa service, I can understand why it would be highly rated.

Lanzerac is obviously a very nice hotel, but considering the price it did not really live up to expectations. There are a lot of employees that are extremely professional and helpful, but there are also some variations. Management did we not see. When we asked if they wanted some helpful suggestions for improvement when we checked out, it was obvious that they did absolutely not want that. Some minor suggestions for improvements: it took about 1h to get a working iron to the room and the irons are worse that what most two stars have. They said no children in the pool, but it was occupied by children all day and the complimentary wine package was the cheapest - somewhat unnecessary when a room is 7-8000 rand. Small things, absolutely - but for that price level it is worth noting. Overall, a very nice hotel, but not really worth the money considering all the other excellent options around.

Best hotel ever. If there was a seven star category, this hotel would be it.

Second stay at this awesome resort. From start to finish, the attention to detail, the warmth of the staff and the setting is perfect. And, the fellow guests seem to be friendly, proper and seasoned travelers. Even the resident owl (appears at sunset in its designated tree) played its part each night to make the experience special.
