Definitely coming back!

Beautiful location, very clean, been several times and never disappointed. Lake view room was excellent.

Beautiful setting. Restaurant was mixed- I had a vegetarian dish that was excellent, while my husband had a chicken Caesar salad that was inedible. Desk staff on arrival were cold & unwelcoming.

Very nice hotel with lovely well kept lawns and a stunning view of the lake. Staff are very professional and courteous. Everyone I encountered was friendly, hardworking working and clearly wanted the guests to have a really enjoyable and valued stay at the hotel. The cleanliness of the room was exceptional. Very good housekeeping team. The spa was nice to use after a days cycling and hiking. The hotel also provides guided local walking routes that are nice to do from the hotel. The hotel has easy access to Grasmere village so able to walk from the hotel into the village for a coffee and delicious ice-cream. Ambleside was also very accessible via the local bus route so no need to use the car for exploring the immediate local area. We stayed for four nights so able to totally relax and be rejuvenated. Good breakfast and dinner options available. There is ample space to relax and fully enjoy the beautiful countryside that inspired Wordsworth poetry.

Its a very nice hotel, in a great location, and I was very pleased with my bedroom and bathroom. I also liked that there is ample car parking which is free, when more and more hotels have started charging for parking. On the downside, the food was mediocre, with breakfast being especially disappointing. Its not cheap either. I had considered ordering a cheeseburger from room service on one of the evenings, until I realised it would have cost me £32. Also I had the rather startling experience of having two strangers walk into my room in the middle of the afternoon. They had just checked in and had been allocated my room by mistake. All three of us went down to reception to complain, to be told that a mix-up had occurred during "staff training". A likely story.

The hotel is in such a beautiful location with sweeping grounds running right down to Grasmere lake plenty of parking and close to buses running into Keswick, Ambleside and Bowness My only complaint was that the cooked breakfast on our first morning was a little cold but fine the next day. The dinner menu is superb!

The hotel is very well maintained, and staff were excellent. The breakfast was disappointing, as the only fruit available was an indifferent fruit salad. No prunes, grapefruit, peaches fresh strawberries etc. The only hotel I have stayed in where the cold buffet lacked fruit. The toaster (as is usual) either under toasts or almost burns the toast

A beautiful hotel in a perfect location in Grasmere away from the more crowded areas of the south Lake District. The hotel is clean and well-maintained with helpful staff and a very welcome health spa with jetted pool, sauna and steam room. The location on a beautiful lake opposite the historic William Wordsworth Dove Cottage really could not be more ideal. A five star experience: we extended our stay due to the excellence of the hotel and it's ideal location.

Hotel was fine, but not exceptional. However, there were not enough staff to run the bars in the day/evening. Evening menus were fairly limited and the same each day. We felt that the hotel was extremely overpriced based on the quality of service provided. We stayed for 5 nights and each morning at breakfast we were asked if it was our first visit to the restaurant - an indication of how valued we felt as customers!

Th spa was amazing and the staff was exceptional! Very attentive and responsive! Great 5 day 4 night visit:)

Room had no WiFi, a broken toilet and a big dark stain on the carpet, this was a senior suite costing £400, the staff did nothing to help resolve the issues and basically we’re not interested. Awful service.

We had a relaxing couple of days. The staff were first class. Our room was clean & spacious with a lovely double kingsize bed. The service was spot on the food was of good quality,fresh & local I believe.the spa facilities are good and inclusive with extra treatments available for a fee. We came away from there feeling relaxed & refreshed. Would we go back…yes Would we recommend…yes Is there room for improvement..if there is, not by much.

Beautiful location with large rooms looking over Grassmere lake. The decor is clean fresh with great choice of colours. Super king bed was very comfortable and room temperature perfect. The artwork on all the walls is enjoyable and like being in a private gallery. Staff were all very informative and friendly, Ronny in the restaurant was particularly great. The food choice for breakfast is plentiful and although dinner menu small the food is beautifully prepared and presented. My only personal comment is that it would have been nice to have included a side of vegetables in the price rather than as an extra. Housekeeping spot on. The spa is spacious with thermal pool ( not really for swimming) sauna and steam room . Lovely after a day of activities. The grounds are well maintained and terrace provides a sunny location to relax and enjoy the views, or if feeling active you can access the lake for a cold water dip or launch your kayak .
