The Daffodil Hotel

When we arrived the reception staff was so lovely. We were travelling with my 10 month old son and they were so kind and attentive to him. It was so appreciated. The room was great, nice big bed and a cot for my baby. I like that the shower was separate from the bath too. I used the spa. Sauna and steam room are great and the changing rooms were clean and well equipped

We chose this hotel based on its “premium” positioning and paid over £240 expecting a high standard experience. Unfortunately, the reality fell significantly short. There were a few positives — the staff were friendly and attentive — and the room was clean. However, beyond that, the hotel felt tired, dated, and far from premium. The room itself was very basic, with unusual black and mustard décor that felt dark and uninviting. The bed, advertised as “premium,” was clearly old, with visible cracks and simply covered by a wrap-around sheet. The bedding was advertised as Egyptian cotton, but this did not appear to be the case. Basic amenities were also lacking — no fridge, no coffee machine, just Tetley tea bags and Nestlé sachets, which is unacceptable at this price point. Our room overlooked a car park with a large industrial air conditioning unit, and due to people being able to see in from outside and neighbouring areas, we had to keep the curtains closed most of the time, which significantly impacted our stay. The bathroom had mold. Room had broken door The spa facilities were extremely small for the size of the hotel, making the experience feel overcrowded and underwhelming. Breakfast was very disappointing. The quality of ingredients was poor, guests were limited to one piece of toast, and eggs were served plainly on a single slice with no presentation. The tea was weak and tasteless, the buffet felt minimal

Lovely hotel and spa. Lovely room with massive bed. Had a relaxing stay. Meals were tasty but overall a very expensive couple days .

Breakfast excellent plenty of choice

Lovely polite friendly staff. spotless spacious room with a pretty view & lovely little touches throughout the hotel. Free onsite parking, Spa was a real treat - open til 8pm which is fab after a day of exploring. Only negative was the coffee at breakfast was very weak but coffee machine was better!

The Daffodil Hotel is a really decent hotel, we came for our little honeymoon. Room was very clean, reception staff very welcoming and the beds are comfortable. We loved the view from our window of the lake and hills. Gorgeous location! Only issues was we had no fridge in our room, not having somewhere cold to store our 'bottled gifts' we brought from our wedding was disappointing. Also the reception lounge bar was closed constantly, its a shame as we fancied a nice cocktail and snack to celebrate, the actual restaurant was a bit too pricey for us.

We went for relaxing night away and we coulnt fault the hotel , the staff were friendly and the spa was very nice . Our room was very clean with a nice view. The only complaint was the pillows were very flat /hard apart from that it was very good .

A lovely stay, didn't use the Spa. Had Dinner in the Hotel the first night, very disappointed with the choice and quality, so I wasn't looking forward to breakfast, but that was excellent, plenty of choice for all tastes.

The reception staff were so friendly and always happy to help. Lovely to have access to a small spa after a day of walking, nice hydrotherapy pool, sauna and steam room. Good range of drinks at the bar. Free parking is a bonus and location was great only a 10min walk from Grasmere and a bus stop close to the hotel to reach Ambleside, Keswick and Kendall. Only thing that really lets the place down is the stained carpets!

Spa was brilliant, really clean, smelt nice and staff so welcoming. Room spotless, quiet night sleep and nice little extras in room. Breakfast and dinner very nice, again staff very efficient and friendly.

Absolutely fabulous second time we have been. One of the best breakfast I’ve had in a hotel rooms are spacious and very clean . The spa is fantastic. And in such a lovely part of the country. Couldn’t fault a thing

The staff were absolutely lovely and very friendly, however, the hotel is tired and lacks either old world charm or modernity. The spa is lacking, carpets are stained and breakfast was average. Expensive for what it was!

Our daughter got married here 21 years ago when the hotel was warm,welcoming,full of character and very much Lake District at its best.Now its soulless,clinical and nothing to make it any different from other hotels who have gone up market and are totally lacking Cumbrian atmosphere.You will probably be successful because you are catering for trendy people,who fail to see what the Lake District is all about.

Fab welcome to the hotel, informative and polite. The room was a good size clean and bright. The hotel an grounds were just what we were looking for having a night away. Unfortunately, restaurant and food let the hotel down. Small things like theblack of a steak knife to being served the wrong steak overcooked. This didn't improve at breakfast, cold sausage, cold toat, cold hard bacon, cold eggs. Not what we expected from how well the restaurant had been described on the website. Lovely hotel great staff front of house, just eat somewhere else.

Brilliant stop . Staff all brilliant and friendly . The spa area very clean and accommodating. We were at the restaurant Saturday night and the food was superb . Would recommend it to anyone

Yes but one bedside table needed attention but i think it was because they was rushiing to get us into our room a tad earlier but absolutely no complaints Staff extremely pleasant and good food as well

The hotel is an fantastic location with great walks from the door, however they don't seem to make the most of the views from the interior of the hotel, I hardly saw outside during our whole visit. The spa is small and has no windows, 1 hour in there was plenty. The food (eve and breakfast) was very over priced and bland. Staff were professional but I had an issue with the 'deal' I had booked via expedia and I felt they could have been more accomodating given the circumstances and it reduced the enjoyment of our stay. For the price (£320 for 1 night for 2 people, half board) the whole thing was a little underwhelming

Staff were all lovely. Great views and tasty breakfast.
