Room right next to elevator and made noise the whole night. Awful. Tried to change but they said no. Most people who stayed at these rooms were complaining online. Also the rest of the hotel is average at best. Avoid rooms ending in 36 and 44 in all floors because those are the two next to elevator.

Room was clean. Breakfast was great. Service was excellent. Facilities looked wonderful but I had a late check in at around midnight. Also had to leave the next morning so my stay is probably not typical and not what they cater to. That said, still, after 10:30 no food service. No vending machines. No mini bar in the room just an empty fridge. I had coffee supplies but no coffee maker or kettle. Just no food or drink. And I was a female travelling alone so didn't want to head outside at midnight. Hotel looked nice otherwise.

The room wasn’t ready until 7 PM. The food in the restaurant is overpriced and very mediocre. On another note, the rooms are clean and renovated and the staff is nice.

It felt more like a 3-star hotel than a 4-star. The bed was also very firm, so if you like soft mattresses you may be uncomfortable. It's very good if you want to be in a central area. Beware of taxi cabs scams. Ask for the rate before you get in.

Pool & Beach

We spent three nights at the British Colonial. The room was large, clean, quiet, and the bed was comfortable. The pool area in general is well maintained, the gym is well equipped, and the staff were consistently friendly. However, a few things fell short. The shower had very low water pressure, and the beach and pool loungers are quite worn and uncomfortable. We also found the on site dining expensive for the quality. We chose the hotel for its downtown location, but many nearby restaurants close early due to catering to cruise traffic, so we ended up taking taxis elsewhere most evenings. Our “garden view” faced a courtyard and another building, which was disappointing. On our final morning, housekeeping entered shortly after knocking, well before checkout time. Overall, a comfortable stay, but not quite the experience we expected for the price.

The staff was very helpful and courteous . There were some issues that they worked to resolve quickly but are notable: no safe in the room, broken phone, lukewarm shower. It is important to note that they do NOT rake the beach. There were piles of accumulated seaweed which was annoying considering how beautiful the beach could be. One day I spent a few minutes clearing the trash that washed up overnight. Of note: the smashburgers at the tavern were AMAZING. Also, the staff told us that they don’t get the tips you charge but do get paid from the 15% automatic gratuity. The beach bar right off property has a great lunch. The cruiseships are right there and it’s both weird and cool to see them docking just off the hotel beach. Hotel is right next to cruise port and straw market area.

I would have given it more, but there was only one elevator working out of 3 for 3 days. Outside of that, all the staff was very pleasant and helpful. Very beautiful and clean hotel.

Expedia is part of the problem. I booked a hotel that i had to cancel 72 hours before arrival. Both Expedia and the hotel turned me around on the phone and didn’t help me at all. So I lost money and NO I didn’t stay in the Bahamas at all.
