My second stay at this hotel which pretty much mirrored the previous stay with a few more positives. I found a perfect parking spot just near the entrance and didn't want to give it up so I dined at the sports bar which was a wise decision as the food provided was top notch. My room was on the 2nd floor just around the corner from the leisure facilities which I took full advantage of using both the cardio equipment and weights. A very powerful shower later had me ready for bed which was comfy and led to a decent night's sleep. The breakfast buffet had great ingredients for both a cooked and continental choice of which I sampled a bit of both. For the caliber of place this is and all you have at your disposal, to get a quality room like mine for under £100 is considered a great bargain and I look forward to being back here again in the future.

Nothing big but hot water needs long time to arrive in tap.

When we checked in, there was a pair of underwear from the previous guest on the towel warmer underneath the towels. There was empty bottles of shampoo and body wash in the dispensers in the shower. There was visible filth in the corners of the bathroom floor. There was also a massive cobweb in the corner of the room just by the table and chairs.

Clean comfortable room, only gripe with room was the air con/air ducting units outside the window making noise so at night with wondow open found it difficult to get to sleep. Spa & pool facilities were exceptional. Restaurant food & service was good but the steak was bland. Not great for £35.. Cocktail Bar service extremely slow. Waiter more interested in chatting than serving.. Wouldn't bother going there again. Sports Bar lively great atmosphere watching the golf but sometimes almost a bit too loud.

Great for golf and all staff very frinedly. Food excellent.

Excellent all round. Lovely space, gym, pool, bar and breakfast. Wish I brought my clubs!

I stayed at Old Thornsto be near to friends, and this worked out fine.

Stay was overall fine but I would say this is currently a three star hotel rather than four star. Suited our needs perfectly well but if I had paid the full price instead of using some Hotels.com vouchers in part-payment, I would have been disappointed by the actual hotel itself. The room and the hotel in general was absolutely roasting and it would have been more effective to have my two daughters blow on me than rely on the fan in the room. Buffet breakfast was 3* standard, similar to a Premier Inn. The in room TV is ancient, zero on demand, certainly no Netflix log in or similar, desperately in need of an update. The spa was nice but Very limited hours for under 16s which we were not informed of in advance (check in is 4pm and my 14 & 15 year old had to be out of the pool and spa by 5pm. Then only allowed in 10-12 the next day). Spa was very nice but broken hot beds covered yellow/black tape as you entered the wellness space wasn’t a great first impression. The saviour was the incredible gym, unlike any hotel gym I have ever used, I wish I had known as I would have arrived earlier to use it twice.

Comfy bed. Great looking place however a little tired and grubby. No time to use the facilities! Check in at 4 children can only use pool until 5 ( we had a 5 year old with us) and closes at 6.

Beautiful grounds

Room was a lovely size, staff were all absolutely lovely too, bars and restaurants nice. For £300plis for one night I would have expected aircon and a shower that wasn’t so weird and impossible to control and I would have liked a fridge. Also our TV wouldn’t switch on and the batteries were loose in the remote as it had no back.

The hotel was fab. The breakfast is quality, friendly staff. Lovely room, great gym and spa. The Toptracer range was good but I was disappointed the range was only 180 yards long. They need a menu for the Sports bar with all the drinks available, prices, alcohol content and calories. I felt a bit lost choosing a drink. Overall though I really enjoyed my stay.

The place itself is set in a great location. Feels a bit dated and lots of open wasted spaces inside the main building. TW.

Lovely hotel, only thing i could comment on is beds to hard and doors are very loud wen going in and out

Great hotel with good facilities. Choice of restaurants was nice, staff were really nice and helpful.

A very disappointed family. We paid £390 for one night. I appreciate dynamic pricing and supply & demand, but I also believe there is a ceiling to reasonable room rates. This hotel charges what it can get away with, without concern for value. We had a basic at best room. There were better rooms available, some even had the luxury of air conditioning, but at additional cost. I couldn’t justify £460. Nor should they. You should not charge whatever people are willing to pay, if the facilities can’t match the premium. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Our evening meal was awful. Fortunately, the restaurant manager was switched on and recognised the awful quality. I am lucky enough to travel globally with work and never leave reviews. I felt compelled on this occasion to earn others. Please, do not part with your money.
