Hip location, clean room, fun!

The room was comfortable enough, albeit a bit shabby around the edges. The gentleman who greeted me was very friendly and kind. However the amount of noise from the adjacent rooms made the stay unpleasant at times - people up at all hours of the night slamming doors, yelling, etc. You could hear every sound and unfortunately the other tenants were not very considerate of others - not really the establishment's fault. Additionally the room had a bad smell any time you didn't leave the windows open. One day I came back from being out for the day and it smelled like someone had smoked a cigarette in there, which I couldn't understand how that happened.

Nice size room

We stayed one night and walked to Oxford. Many alternatives for breakfast and dinner nearby.

Crown House is an east Oxford gem. Very reasonably priced rooms, maintained spotlessly, and managed by a kind, very hospitable, and attentive staff. Cowley Road location is ideal given local superabundance of genuine ethnic restaurants, multiple supermarkets, specialty stores, and Oxford's largest bike shop. Local buses run constantly on Cowley Road with easy, easy access to the city center. Crown House's Cowley Road location is also an easy walk to the Oxford Tube Bus stop on the near St. Clement's Street serving London's Victoria Station and the Airlines Bus also with a separate stop on the nearby St. Clement's Street (with very frequent, inexpensive direct coach service to Heathrow and Gatwick airports. So What's not to love here?? Do be advised that all rooms at Crown House occupy the second floor of the building up a steep flight of steps. There is no lift (elevator) so this property is not wheelchair accessible at all.

The room was large and clean. Based on location be prepared for Uni kids to load a boisterous all night (and I mean all night to 0600)…

İlk aldığımız oda havasız ve penceresizdi bir de tuvaletten çok fazla kötü koku geliyordu. Değiştirilmesini talep ettik sağ olsun değiştirdiler. Fakat yeni odamızda yatak temiz olmasına rağmen banyo, bardaklar ve ekipmanlar temiz değildi sadece bir tane petek vardı yeterince ısıtmıyordu. Oda içinde ayaklı klima vardı ama sadece soğuk üflüyordu büyüklüğü güzel ama kasımın sonlarında gittiğim için oda ısınmıyordu. Caddeye baktığı için gürültülüydü çünkü karşıda bar ve clube vardı. Seven arkadaşlar için tavsiye ederim genel olarak sadece uyumak için gelinebilir.

There was no cleaning done in the room. Felt unsafe and paid too much for the room.

Didn’t clean rooms unless you asked and then didn’t do it and you had to ask over and over - stairs to room and no one to help - dangerous step to come down at top and no warning

Crown House is a small property run by a superbly hospitable, attentive, and very welcoming staff. Cleanliness of the property is impeccable. Its location on the Cowley Road is ideal since that thoroughfare offers a huge array of tasty, affordable dining options (great Turkish, Chinese, Persian, and North African restaurants). Even better, Cowley Road is served by a great many buses going directly in to central Oxford. This makes city access and touring extra-easy. There are also numerous shops, a large, well-stocked Tesco supermarket, and small businesses quite close to the property. Room 4 there is especially large, quite comfortable, and faces Cowley Road itself through grand windows. Light sleepers should be aware that there is a large, very popular music venue directly across the street from Crown House. The musical performances here (3 to 4 times a week) are entirely inaudible within Crown House itself, but exiting crowds of young concert-goers can be quite loud, even raucous between the hours of midnight and 1:00 a.m. on concert nights. Otherwise, Crown House is a perfect, very reasonably priced Oxford stay in a real, diverse, and vibrant neighborhood. So go already!

If we had known we had climb a steep staircase with heavy luggage to our room we would have booked elsewhere

Le logement était trop cher vis à vis de son état général (poussière, table tachée, fenêtre cassée, matelas et oreillers peu confortables). Il reste cependant proche du centre (20 min à pieds).

Ideally situated for our purpose. Sufficiently back from main road made it quiet. Though opposite a pub this caused absolutely no noise or disturbance.

Mystisk bygning. Alternativ reception som var svær at få fat i, selv om den skulle være åben. Glimrende værelse 👍
