Essendon Motel

I flew in from America and my partner who lives here did the check in because they do not offer check-in after 10pm and my flight landed at 9:50pm. When I arrived at the location, the room was beyond dirty. The bathroom was dirty. There was a guest in the room next to ours that was up all night screaming and yelling at himself and he was still going when we checked out. Needless to say, after a 37 hour plane ride here I still wasn't able to get any rest at this facility. Very disappointed that my first night in Australia was a very horrible experience.

The rooms were clean, it was close to the airport and DFO, and the staff were very friendly.

This was the worst stay I have ever had at a motel. The booking on wotif.com said you could check until 10pm. Reception closed at 9 pm. The room was covered in black mould. It was filthy and dirty; the walls were covered in brown stains and dirty handprints. Holes in the bath, the floor had chipped tile, making it unsafe for my child to bath. The television didnt work. Nobody manned the reception, called and informed management, said they would call back and never did. Asked for a refund and was not refunded. DO NOT STAY HERE

Disgusting. Do not stay here. Exposed wires, the rooms smell like cigarette smoke and have not been cleaned thoroughly . We refused to stay

Everything was dirty, No clean towels.

It is an older motel. I have stayed there a few times over the years. I saw that it is showing its age and needs a refurbishment. It is okay as a place to sleep. The chain on the door of my room had been removed. The closet was missing a bar (the kind staff member at reception went and found me one). The bar fridge had no shelves inside or on the fridge door. The TV was an older model, the speakers on it weren't delivering the best sound. The staff member I saw was helpful.

Amenities. 2nd rate. Dirty. Hair on tops in bathroom. Loose toilet. Freezer discussing. Carpet lots of fluff & metal filings. Fire alarm disarmed. Balcony filthy. Spa- wouldn’t even use.No TV WiFi (as advertised) or restaurant. Cobwebs.Furniture decrepit. Oh a big room absolutely

The whole experience was not good , room smelt of urine not sure if human or dog as it seems that dogs were allowed in rooms , the rooms are so bad that they should not be allowed to sell on any site I tried contacting Expedia as I will be asking for a refund

the rooms were pretty basic ,tea/coffee,fridge,microwave,toaster.good size bathroom and shower,comfortable queen bed,tv,table and chairs.5min walk to bus and 4 stops to train station,10 min walk to dfo.great public transport with bus,tram and train.the staff were really friendly,the place neads good spruce up,if your fussy its probably not for you.price was good considering it was cup week that i stayed.would stay their again if i was in melbourne

It’s ok for super budget accomodations. Was definitely not worth what we were charged at all. The rooms are not well maintained. The bathroom window was broken. The sink hole was broken. The furniture has chips in it. Someone was screaming late a night. A homeless person was going through the bins. The door number fell off our door. Good points were the room was clean and the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.

The room wasn’t cleaned when we arrived & had to wait half an hour for it to be cleaned. The staff seemed like they didn’t know what they were doing. One way in & out, onto a four laned main road, was horrendous. The smell was overpowering. The spa had no plug so we couldn’t use it. The toilet roll holder was broken & the roll just sat on the edge of the spa bath. The vanity was covered in contact covering. The door was missing the security chain & the door handle & lock felt as if it was about to fall off. There was a sign under the mirror saying the hairdryer was in the wardrobe but there was no hairdryer. I asked for one at the reception & they couldn’t find one. I asked them to put one in the room during the day, but that wasn’t done. I asked again in the afternoon and it took ages to find one. The microwave has a sign on the door to cover your food when heating & to clean it after you finished. There was nothing to cover it with or to clean it afterwards. There was an ironing board in the wardrobe but it didn’t have any cover on it. There was only 2 cups &1 teaspoon in the room. No plates, glasses, crockery or cutlery. There was a big sign out the front, saying Restaurant open 7 days. I asked if they had a restaurant & the receptionist said no they didn’t. The room had a lot of old water damage in it. The particleboard wardrobe, at the bottom where the old water damage was, was falling to bits as the timber was just all falling off it. No spare blankets or pillows.

Too many people using drugs making noise with the police coming and not getting any sleep

Where to start? 1. Floor hazards, wrinkled and very dirty carpet Room 9 2. Duvet only a single on a double bed 3. Grubby sheets and only two low pillows 4. No bath mat, no face washers 5. No tools to eat with, no plates 6. Broken window winder, ripped out of woodwork 7. Bathroom fly screen never cleaned in the past 5 years 8. Graffiti on cupboard 9. References to sheltered housing on walls 10. Door lock barely holds, safety issue 11. No plug in sink 12. Dirty bathroom 13. Black mould on ceilings in bathroom plus clear evidence of water trapped behind the plaster. 14. The mould is a form of Stachybotritus and is a health hazard to asthmatics like me. 15. The ceiling is textured and due to the building age may well contain asbestos 15.Photos available for all the above 16. 20 years ago the motel was good, now awful. 17. If you have read this far, DO NOT BOOK, EXPEDIA remove this property from you list NOW.

Staff very helpful and pleasant. Good room with great bed. Well priced

The place so run down and smelt of smoke in the room . the bed side tables had cigarette burns on them. the shower door was hard to open and closed and couldnt get the tv to work for awhile not all the free to air channels came up frustrating,

Room was run down could do with a refurb fridge was noisy no bath Mats 1 dining chair for 2 people lots and lots of smoke butts outside only 2 pillows one each overall I only paid just over $100 per night so for the price I can’t really complain only other thing was we had a random guy knock on our door looking for someone then proceeded to know on every body else’s doors

I had a truly wonderful couple of days at a terrific place.
