Fairmont Baku - Flame Towers

The Fairmont is a centrepiece of Baku. The hotel staff are phenomenal, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spacious and pleasantly decorated. The reception is welcoming. We were met by Survan who was exceptional. His attention to detail to ensure your stay with them was paramount. He went above and beyond and a credit to the hotel chain. The staff in the restaurant for breakfast and evening meal were superb. A young Manager in Le Bistro was very engaging and welcoming, and the food was outstanding. Recommended to stay at this hotel, don’t waste your time staying anywhere else in Baku.

We only stayed for a single night but had a comfortable stay. The hotel is located away from the old city and many of the restaurants, so we decided to stay here when we arrived in the evening in Baku. Nonetheless, this is a top-quality hotel with all the amenities you would want from this type of hotel. The room was spacious enough for 2 people and the sea view was fantastic. Breakfast room was large with plenty of options. The gym and pool were impressive with great views of the city from these places. Staff were helpful and friendly. There are a few things to see close by, which would take a bit of walk to visit if you were located near the old town. So, I would recommend this hotel if you wanted to visit the monuments close by and for the great city view. If you are happy travel around Baku with Bolt (their uber equivalent) than staying at this hotel would not pose an issue.

The hotel itself was beautiful, great location, views, the funicular down to the old town was just across the street. But I have to say the service disappointed us several times, and we are not very picky travelers. We had asked for the hotel to organize transportation from airport to hotel. They sent prices, we confirmed which one we want. They never confirmed it and there was no transportation organized. We ended up using Bolt, which worked well and was cheaper. On the first night we called room service and asked for some water bottles. We waited for 40 minutes and nothing happened. Called them again, and they said "call zero". Well the phone did not connect anywhere when I pressed 0 but in the end used the "congierce" button. They brought us water very quickly, so all was well in the end, but it was extra hassle and wait. The next day I went for coffee on the 2nd floor cafe. I grabbed one of the salads from the take away shelf with label "beetroot and goat cheese with balsamic". As they served the salad to me, there was no dressing, no cheese in it. Just veggies. So I asked the waitress, she made some calls and said they do not have any goat cheese but they can bring me some local cheese. Which they did, after about 10 minutes. Again, in the end I got the cheese and vinegrette and all was fine. But if I had taken that salad with me to another location to eat (it was take away, after all) I would have felt conned for paying for a goat cheese salad without any cheese.

The experience was wonderful. A luxury hotel, clean, good service, great breakfast, and super friendly staff.

I’d make sure the hot tub in the gym got a deep clean as the sides were filthy. Everywhere else was spotless.

I’ll always use Fairmont in my travels This is my 6th fairmon

A failure to address earlier emails resulted in very poor check-in. Unfortunately this was compounded by misinformation to staff which ended up with embarrassing issues for us. This was not good customer service which was more customer apologies than service. The did address the issue but I felt they were more interested in the money than the compensation. Only saving grace was Bar19 lovely staff, good food and great view over Baku Nice hotel. lovely city, i expected more from the hotel. John

The staff were very very nice and helpful from the front office staff to the staff at the breakfast restaurant . The hotel is well appointed , room was very spacious , bed was comfortable , heated floors . The hotel is a sight to behold and a great one to stay in . Would be back in a heart beat . The breakfast was always sumptuous and had great variety .

They can't make a coffee. Hardly anyone speaks English. Not service oriented.

My room had AC that stopped at 75F. I had to request a room upgrade three times, and by the time they offered it it was a smaller room on a higher floor (twice they took me to options where the prior occupant had smoked in the room--the rooms reeked--which the porter admitted was a big problem with the guests there) my son had fallen asleep so we stayed. They also put us on the 18th floor failing to mention that there is a restaurant on the 19th floor pumping out LOUD music...the night they played jazz I could hear it down to the individual instrument. The breakfast buffet was very poor - not what you'd see at a Fairmont in North America or Asia. On the plus side, one of the younger concierges was very helpful.

Helpful kind staff, breakfast was perfect also the restaurant staff was super kind. ** room fridge was locked and they asked me for deposit to unlock it, after little argument they opened it
