We stayed for work for 1 night. Although we had a breakfast included there was only toasts, fruits and cereals.
On positive note it is very quirky place. Our room was newly renovated and clean. Beautiful surroundings and quietness. Room was very cheap so we were very happy. ☺️

A recently redecorated bedroom, clean and basic, great value for a one night stay with a lovely breakfast and staff were very helpful with details about where I was going and what to look out for. Most helpful.

The property is a wonderful grade II listed building with oodles of character. The breakfast room is exquisitely decorated with busts of famous peots in which you can eat a sumptuous cooked full english breakfast. The property is wonderfully peaceful and the beds as beautifully soft and comfortable.
If you are looking for a modern sparse hotel then this is not it, and you should look elsewhere. If you like a wonderful property with bags of history to it then you are in luck!

Fieldways hotel has been our choice over the past 10 years but on this occasion we were very disappointed with the lack of staff available at any time, seemed a like a “Look after yourself” scenario’ Our main concern was that we paid £24 more than ever before and there was no cooked breakfast!! The toilets were very dated and needed a complete overhaul/clean. My comment to my wife was that I did not think the hotel would stay open for long and that it seemed as though it was going to be closed down at any time! We made the best of what was available because there was no one to

They have tried to improve the room, new carpet and painting but one of the 2 windows had no curtains. The bathroom was dirty, the toilet roll holder had come off the wall and just put on top of the bin and tape put over the holes. The mirror was just propped up against the wall. There was no lamp shades on 3 of the lights. There’s hooks in the walls but nothing hanging on them. There was nowhere to hang your clothes. There’s side door that you use to enter the building is up some stone steps which are not light at night.

Lovely looking building and good parking outside. The owner was really friendly and helpful and made sure I had everything needed for my stay, even walking me around the building so I knew where everything was. Breakfast was a nice spread and fresh which was good. My stay was only 1 night but would return again.

Our worst experience of a B&B!
We were in the highest room in the property. On an extremely hot day with just a single desk fan!
The building is very impressive from the front and does have a lot of its original features. But in general the whole place was in need of some serious TLC!
Didn’t really see a lot of the staff, but when we did there was absolutely no eye contact or polite conversation.
Our room was in need of a good vac and dusting. Should think the dust behind the bathroom door was a years worth of! And lots of mould in the shower area! And a shower that was barely warm. The noise of the macerator was something to behold.
The breakfast was a ‘basic’ continental. All laid out on a fairly small table. The table cloth on our table was dirty with what we assumed was yoghurt. Chose a different table the second morning. It was all self service and if a member of staff entered it was to replenish items and back out quick, without even a ‘Good morning’.
We were at a function not far away on the Saturday night. When we mentioned where we staying several local people were horrified as it had a bad reputation locally.
Thankfully we had a torch to light our way up the stone steps in the dark as they was no outdoor lighting.
So in a summary, book elsewhere! We would like a refund please.

Breakfast consisted of toast and cereal only.
2 people complaining on arrival, asking for their money back.
Sadly, I won't be going back, never again !

When we got to the hotel we were told that our booking had been cancelled, a member of the hotel family had cancelled it. My husband asked to use the toilet, when he came out he said that the toilet hadn’t been flushed, no toilet paper and it was disgusting.
The receptionist Richard looked like he hadn’t had a wash himself in a month and his clothes looked about the same, they were filthy.
We later found out that the hotel was full of illegal immigrants.
This hotel should not be on hotels.com
It was fortunate that we were able to get a room at the Travel lodge

This hotel makes Faulty Towers look professional! Reception does not open until 4pm and then closes once all of the guests are booked in (he was not very friendly and couldn't leave the building quick enough), no staff are then seen until 8am the next day when a basic continental breakfast is put on and then he disappears again so you're left to your own devices, luckily we were the first ones down for breakfast so we had some choice but a party of cyclists were in the hotel and the first ones down had some breakfast but the later ones had nothing left to eat and there was no staff on site to replenish the milk etc. My advice, pay a bit more, it would be worth it!

Helt okej vistelse - våra förväntningar var låga iom att boendet fått väldigt blandade omdömen men läget och priset var för vår resa värd chansningen. Vi ankom vid värmebölja och temperaturer utomhus på 30-35 grader vilket gjorde att nyheten vid ankomst om att poolen var ur funktion och gymmet bara var möjligt att nyttja mellan 16-19 när personalen var på plats var två besvikelser. Likaså vissa väldigt varma rum och bristen på fläktar på vissa rum - men efter lite tjat lyckades personalen lösa fläktar i alla rum. Inför vistelsen har vi även försökt att ringa/kontakta boendet per Mail men de har inte svarat vilket också gjort saker inför resan svårt att lösa.
Rummen varierade i kvalitet; vi var en grupp om 15 pers. Delar av hotellet var lite renoverade, andra inte. Rummen var inte de renaste; skräp i lådor, hår och damm på lister och lampor. Vissa lampor funkade inte på rummen och jättesvårt att hitta information om Wi-Fi.
Positivt var att vi fick förutsättningar att lämna väskor och låna nyckel för att ta oss in på hotellet senare än vår tid för utcheckning (hotellet är låst).
Hotellet var vad man kunde vänta sig efter recensionsläsning; ett ställe med potential men inte det renaste och i behov av renovering samt inte den mest hjälpsamma av personal, men allt som allt löste sig allt.

Filthy room, no curtains on one window, exposed wiring on walls and dangerous plug socket with big hole in it, I opened a cupboard drawer and found 2 wall lights, obviously for the exposed wires. No soap/shower gel, paint all flaking off the walls in the toilet, general grime.! have seen better looking beds at a council rubbish dump. No food available. The only good thing was the view, if you didn’t look in the car park.
I have taken so many photos of as you wouldn’t believe me otherwise, possibly the worst hotel I have stayed in. I stay in a lot of hotels.

The hotel is very tired, but the owners are trying to tidy it up and decorate.
The facilities in the bedroom were poor, nowhere to hang clothes, curtains don't close tv didn't work.
Having said that, it is only rated a 2 star and I will certainly stay again both for the quirkiness and the lovely staff.

After booking in we were told that, 1. breakfast was not cooked, I'm sure the pictures showed that, 2. the resturant wasn't open in the evenings, 3. the pool was closed.
Had I known this before checking in I would have changed the booking but it was too late be that time!

Unfortunately we had to get there early as the contact number on the website is no longer use. Half the building was cold the pool was not open as being renovated the gym also not open or the sauna . The room was so small should have been a single . The 2 staff we saw was lovely and very kind . The place didn’t look ready for any guests . We ended up going home .

There was one member of staff the entire stay that was often hard to locate. The kitchen was broken, the WIFI was broken, the access to the gym and pool was locked, all downstairs bathrooms were out of order, the en-suite for our room had mould everywhere in the shower, the check in and check out process was appalling and I wanted to dispute the payment of the room due to the standard provided but was unable to do so due to there being no staff so was charged full price automatically to the card I booked the room with. Would not stay again.

Easy 30 minute walk to the train station. Lovely old building with comfortable rooms.
The reception isnt manned until the evenings, we needed to drop our bags early and the breakfast chef was so helpful

Very run down. Booked with breakfast included. Was told on arrival they have no food available for any meal time. Gym was filthy. Shower was mouldy.
Reception unattended on arrival. Had to look for staff member. When I left at 8:30 the reception was all locked up. No staff around. No receipt for stay. Have emailed but had no response. Travels a lot with work and this is the worst place I have stayed.
