Loftsome Bridge Hotel

Really friendly service, great breakfasts and comfortable rooms. We will definitely be coming again.

Stayed for my husbands 30th. They made a cake our of towels for him and we got a box of chocolates in our room. Great for going into York and other places around it. Nice and quiet, really comfy beds.

Accommodation: room very dated (carpets, furniture) in need of tlc, but clean, quiet and convenient. Shower curtains over bath not contemporary. Bed comfortable, nice linen. Food: pricey for what was served, of varying quality. Bread to accompany cold starter were cheap, buttered, untoasted, supermarket slices, which is not what you'd expect with a £10 starter. Breakfast selection for continental sparse (items like fresh pastries entirely awol, despite on menu); selection of cooked breakfast ok, but supplements charged for specialty coffees and certain items like scrambled egg with salmon, which is incongruous considering a walk-in price of £14 per head (otherwise, breakfast is included in room rate). The free filter coffee offered at breakfast was strong, hot and freshly brewed; what we ate was tasty and of good quality. Service at dinner knowledgeable, professional, friendly (clearly trained waiter). Breakfast (different waiter) sadly not: our request to substitute items on cooked full English with more of another (e.g. swap beans for additional hash brown) resulted in items just being taken off, which was disappointing. Value for money: room rate is just about ok, but restaurant needs tighter quality control in kitchen; breakfast offer and service require overhaul. So all in all very much a mixed experience. With some updating of rooms (flooring, furniture, bathroom) and better food this could be a little gem of a countryside hotel in a pretty setting.

Great stay overall. The staff were very professional and friendly. Someone was on reception when I arrived in the evening at c.8.30pm, contrary to what was said in the the note I received from Hotels.com prior (i.e. that reception closes at 7.30pm). There is plenty of free on-site parking, which was convenient. The building is beautiful, nicely maintained and the setting is quite special, in the countryside and beside the Derwent River. If I had a criticism of sorts, it would be that the interior of my room (one of the cottages) felt a bit dated, i.e. the curtains, furniture, carpet, paint on the walls / woodwork. Breakfast was tasty, nicely cooked and presented. The dining room comfortable and well presented. In summary, I would certainly stay here again and recommend, but do suggest that that the interior should be updated where needed.

Always a lovely stay at the Loftsome Bridge. The staff are excellent and very friendly. We enjoy the food in the evenings and breakfast.

Excellent!!!

A wonderful quiet place you are reliant on your own vehicle. Food is very good (evening and breakfast) but unavailable at lunch time. Can highly recommend the cottages(8 of them), they are spacious with a sofa and large bathroom, their also have their own parking space.

We loved the feel to the whole place and the staff were very pleasant. The food was good and particularly the breakfast and breakfast service was excellent. The windows in the bathroom weren’t lockable.

Wonderful accomodation, staying in one of the cottages. We dined in the rataurant and the staff were very friendly and engaged in good conversation. The food presentation, taste and quality were fabulous and the settting and decoration was delightful. 10/10

The staff and food are excellent: you are very looked after from the moment you check in. Lindsay is always delightful to meet and she really looks after you at breakfast and/or reception, is very easy to chat to and a wonderful part of staying at Loftsome Bridge. We met Tracey on this visit and she was also very friendly and could not have been more helpful showing us some of the room options available for our next visit.

Great staff and food

We stayed on Christmas Night. Alone in a deserted hotel on the misty banks of the Yorkshire Derwent. The continental breakfast was adequate but unimaginative - we don't eat sticky buns for breakfast. As this is a very old Coaching House we'd hoped for a minimum of ghosts but were disappointed

Very friendly and relaxed environment. The quality of the breakfast and service was spot on. We stayed in a cottage room, that was beautifully clean and comfortable, although was slightly dated in decor and no USB charge points. Would definitely recommend as a great place to stay.

Property very good lovely food and excellent staff

we found the hotel and staff very good food top rate. We are not hotel visitors I did find it strange that I had no one to contact during the evening but it did not deter my recommendation for the hotel.

Clean and comfortable with every need catered for. Excellent breakfast and very friendly staff.

Beautiful hotel and grounds. Had the 4 poster room which was stunning. The decor of the hotel is fabulous and the staff were very helpful. Finished the stay with a wonderful breakfast. Will def stay again
