Rothay Garth

Hotel was dated and the windows in the room were only single glazed meaning there was a lot of road noise and moisture on the inside of the glass. Room was freezing cold upon arrival as all the radiators were off (it was 2.5 degrees out). Upon arrival with the dog, the hotel said they were not aware a dog was coming (despite when I made the booking through hotels.com I filtered for dog friendly, had to pay a surcharge for the room (which wasn't that clean when we arrived). We were then told we'd have to have breakfast the next day in our room! Upon floating around the breakfast area looking for someone to speak to about breakfast, a nice young lad asked if we would like a table made up In the lounge, we said yes please. He said weren't you given this option when you checked in? I said no we didn't. He was a great lad and very accommodating and friendly. Food was also really good! Upo

A lovely, quaint and homely guest house with friendly, helpful staff. My room was clean, comfortable, warm and cosy. I was given a guided tour of the breakfast facilities upon check in and then shown to my room. The breakfast itself next morning was delicious and made to order. Rothay Garth is situated right at the heart of Ambleside, with all the local amenities only a couple of minute's walk away. There was also ample free parking on the premises. I would recommend this guest house and have already booked another stay.

Really well positioned hotel. Friendly staff and a well decorated room with an excellent walk in shower. Good value for money.

The room was clean and very comfortable. We had everything we needed to have an enjoyable stay. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, nothing too much trouble. The breakfast was cooked and presented to a high standard with so much choice.

Plenty of choices for breakfast, dining room is nice for breakfast Bedroom was a good size , bathroom had no heating so difficult to dry a wet towel and bathroom room door is loose, lack of maintenance in the room

Very clean room with plenty of space. Bonus of a nice view from our window. It was good thatbyou could use the lounge, conservatory and garden. Imagine in better weather this would be a really nice. With free parking atbthe hotel and Ambleside just a matter of yards away the location is brilliant

Staff were excellent, lovely clean and tidy room, free upgrade on our room was a great touch and the breakfast was top notch.

Everything was great with my stay. Solo traveller in smallish double room which was perfect for me. Staff were excellent, warm and welcoming. Off road free parking, great night sleep, very good breakfast and just a short walk to the town centre.

Great few days stay - room large and clean, breakfast great and property has off-street parking (rare in this area). Hostess is a blast, welcoming with a good sense of humour.

Fabulous understanding staff members. Happy to rearrange date due to weather. The place feels homely and very welcoming for a female on her own. Would definitely stay again…. A bolt hole for a night of calm. Thank you x x

Perfect stay! Everyone is really nice and helpful, breakfast is very good! Room is clean and love our little jacuzzi bathtub! Would definitely stay here again!

Excellent location. Ample free parking. Good sized clean room. Friendly reception staff who explained aspects of breakfast times wifi etc. Room clean lovely large fluffy towels, good quality bedding and very comfy bed. Great stay have no hesitation recommending and will definitively stay again.
