Royal Oak at Keswick

We had a fantastic time at the Royal Oak. All of the staff were really nice and looked after us. We stayed in Room 15 which is on the top floor and is nice and cozy, very clean and had aircon. The complimentry tea, coffe and water was good quality along with the bathroom products which were also available at the shop in the main square. Breakfast was 10/10 in terms oif quality (locally sourced) and choice.

Paid £370.00 for 2 nights for a 'cosy double' it was tiny i mean Tiny!!!! Toilet seat was hanging off not worth the money i paid and will not return!!

Whilst the room was done out very nicely, was nice and clean and had a great location in the town centre, it was absolutely tiny, the smallest room we have ever had. My husband and I had one large suitcase and one small/medium one. There’s hardly anywhere to put anything in the room so we had to have both cases on the floor and leave most of our stuff in the case during our stay. There was one piece of furniture comprising a rail for hanging clothes, a surface underneath that had a coffee machine on it but there was nowhere really to put it to use it, unless you wanted to have it steaming your clothes above. At the top there was a further bit of rail that had a small round mirror on it, which was handy. Below was a shelf mostly filled with a tray containing a kettle and packets of tea and coffee. There was a thin piece of surface to the left of the tray where I put my hair straighteners and about 1-2 inches of surfaces in front of the tray where I just put the jewellery I had been wearing that day. There was one drawer. There was just a tiny glass shelf in the bathroom. The bathroom was tiny, I would say a bit less than 2mx2m. The twin beds were the smallest size you can get (2.5 feet/75cm) and it felt like sleeping in a straight jacket. We decided not to let the cleaners in as they couldn’t really clean the room properly as it was such a mess as there was nowhere to put our stuff away. Breakfast was very hit and miss.

The staff were so lovely, we travelled with my mum who is 91 years old and they were so great with our family. As i saw them like this with all the guests, will definitely stay again.

Another nice stay at this lovely pub. It’s been refurbished since our last stay and it’s been done very tastefully. A warm welcome on arrival and even a room upgrade which pleased my daughter no end as was her first ever hotel stay. Room was clean and spacious and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was one of the best around. Great service and a huge menu choice. All in, a great over night stay and will hopefully be back again in the near future.

Room was tiny, about a foot between bottom of bed and wall, you had to turn sideways and watch you didn't bang your head on tv on wall. I know you have to accept its a tiny room but to put the tv there and make less room to get past is crazy with no thought, also staff doing breakfast made loads of mistakes with either getting our order wrong or takiking food to wrong tables, i saw this numerous times

Beautiful little hotel. We booked a 'cosy' room and it was perfect for our 1 night away, even a tray outside the rooms for any muddy boots. Service was a little slow in the restaurant area at breakfast and checking out we had to find a staff member, but all in all fantastic hotel and we'd definitely go back. Perfect location with beautiful roof top views

Lovely friendly staff. Clean and quiet room. Great breakfast ,great service. Very calm and quiet hotel in centre Keswick.

Fint hotell med fint oppusset rom, midt i hovedgaten i Keswick. Mange restauranter, sportsbutikker, bakerier og puber i området. Kort ved ned til Derwentwater og bra utgangspunkt for fjelltur. Veldig vennlig og hjelpsomt personale. God frokost og en veldig god dusj, som var perfekt etter en lang fjelltur. Aircondition på rommet.

Excellent location in town centre- was great base for Lake District- rooms are well appointed and modern and restaurant food is nice All staff extremely helpful and friendly- would definitely recommend

Super freindly staff , great food perfect for dogs.

The staff were amazing but we had a problem with our room as the loo wasnt working . Couldnt get a room change until the following day but it meant we had staff in and out on Saturday night trying to sort it and we had to stay dressed in our room until bed time so we could go down and use the pubs loo . The room we moved to had a considerably smaller bath room and was rather shabby . Paint peeling rotten window frames and definitely not cosy just cramped . We were very disappointed that we were not offered a small refund for the major inconvenience.

I can't speak too highly of this hotel. The staff couldn't do too much for us, they were courteous and polite at all times. The quality and choice of food was second to none, for the lake District, it was extremely competitively priced....we will be back, soon, for another break.

Location good & hotel was surprisingly very good

My husband and I stayed between Christmas and New year.....what an amazing team! Great service, food, beautiful clean cozy room and wonder hardworking girls serving breakfast and evening meals. Even our 2 dogs had sausages served for breakfast! Brilliant stay 😊 Great local and street parking close by.
