The Gables

The Gables is everyone's home away from home! It's the most beautifully appointed home, the very epitome of genteel luxury and Angus and Claire couldn't be better, warmer and fantastic hosts. Their hospitality, care and warmth were wonderful and their attention to detail legendary! We are already planning when we can go back!

Fantastic Georgian country house, most comfortable bed I’ve slept in when away from home. Host is knowledgeable about surrounding area and is very attentive.

We spent a lovely day here and Angus is a fantastic host - very knowledgable and helpful. The room was beautiful and we had a great breakfast the next day. Can highly recommend. Set in fantastic countryside about 10 mins drive from Berwick-Upon-Tweed town.

No food available on the evening, or at breakfast time. Slightly disappointing.

The owners were excellent hosts very friendly and accommodating. The property is situated in an ideal location to visit the local attractions. The room was very spacious as is the en-suite bathroom. It is furnished with antiques in keeping with the period the house was built

This is a lovely home and the owners do a great job at creating warmth and comfort for their guests. We had such scrumptious breakfasts, with meat from local producers and eggs cooked to perfection. Our bed was comfy and all was quiet and peaceful.

Fantastisk opphold. Utrolig oppmerksom, hyggelige og kunnskapsrik vert. Her blir det lett å komme igjen. Smart sted på reiser nord eller sør. Bare 7 minutt fra hovedruten på østsiden av England.

We had a lovely short stay at the Gables. It was a brilliant base from which to explore Northumberland and the borders. We were looked after very well by our host.

Amazing place to stay. The highlight of the stay was Angus the owner. What a wonderful gentleman he is, chatty, helpful, makes you feel like you are part of his own family. Breakfast scrumptious, sourced from the local farm and butcher. Couldn't ask for better food. Overall top marks, will definitely come back here.

One of the nicest B&B we have ever stayed at. The house was previously a priory and has been beautifully refurbished. The room and bathroom were very large and meticulously clean and excellent amenities. The owner/host Angus is extremely helpful, accommodating and eager to make it a personal experience. Breakfast was perfectly cooked, ample and featured locally sourced food - delicious. Normally only milk is provided with the excellent coffee but when Angus learned that we usually have cream with it, he specially went out to get us cream for our next day breakfast. If you wan tit we suggest you let him know ahead of time and any other special needs and I believe he will accommodate you.

We had an amazing time. We were only there for one night as an overnight stop on our way up Scotland. But would stop longer next time we are passing through. We highly recommend it. Everything is just perfect. Best b&b we have ever stopped in.

The property was of outstanding quality very friendly and nothing was to much trouble, we would certainly be making another trip in the very near future. I would certainly recommend.
