The Lugger Hotel

A really fantastic position, The Lugger is a great hotel, with super rooms and friendly staff. Only downside WIFI not good and menu and wine list, somewhat uninspiring. But still very much worth a visit!

Fantastisk ophold på fem dage. Vi nød at have egen terrasse med udsigt over vandet. Det kan klart anbefales. Super søde hotelansatte og rigtig dejlig mad i restauranten. Den eneste ulempe var den smalle vej igennem Portloe.

Absolutely beautiful surroundings! Beds super comfortable and lovely rooms with great amenities. Very narrow roads to access the town and parking was challenging

Excellent hotel with friendly, accommodating staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Lovely comfortable rooms and a superlative dining experience - definitely our treat of the trip!! Can thoroughly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Although rated as a 5 star I struggle to see how. Hotel is in a stunning location, there is nothing around it but coast path which was fine for us as that is what we wanted but might put others off. Hotel looked tired in lots of areas, the communal areas seems unkempt and a little grubby, little things around that shouldn’t be such as the half eaten sandwich left outside our room was a good example. Looks like it needs an update for sure, lots of chipping paint and a grubby carpets. It’s not made clear that if you have a terrace room it’s a shared terrace with a few other rooms so didn’t feel at all private, especially as this is also on the road into the hotel too. The shower was dreadfully weak, cracked tiles in the bathroom floor and just looking tired, could hear everything the room upstairs was doing, especially their alarm at 6:30 in the morning…. No robes as stated, pillows are very uncomfortable and hard. Overall it was just ok. We didn’t eat in the restaurant in then end, mainly as it was Easter Sunday and apparently the chef hadn’t done the menu even up to the night before but then it turned out to be the same as the other nights so that was confusing. Breakfast was ok but small. This place could be amazing with a few tweaks and a good general manager with some attention to detail but sadly lacking in my eyes.

Such a beautiful place to stay it was actually our second visit we spent our honeymoon there 40 years ago in September and certainly wasn’t disappointed. All the staff were great and very welcoming and friendly would definitely recommend

The staff were excellent position second to none.

Beautiful location. Lovely staff, delicious breakfast. Clean comfy rooms. Something to note is Uber or similar services are not permitted in the area. We needed a taxi to Truro and all local firms were booked so had to drive. We’d already had a drink in the bar before we realised this, thankfully not enough to be unable to drive but if we had that would have ruined our plans. Also worth mentioning is that a 25 min taxi ride when we got one the following day was £50. We will return to The Lugger but just to enjoy the hotel and immediate location, not when needing to venture away.
