The Tawny Owl

A good overnight stop on our journey to the south coast! Very friendly staff in the bar welcomed us, and were extremely helpful. Nicely decorated and spacious rooms. A good choice of decent meals on the bar menu available in the pub, so convenient not having to dine elsewhere. Excellent value, and both the evening and morning staff were great. Yes, a bit of road noise, and extractor noise heard in our 2 rooms, but we are used to silent nights living in a rural location!

Before you book, know that the primary business here is as a VERY popular family friendly pub! Most of the staff were very nice and helpful, though there's an expectation that you already know things and the anticipation that you are going to ask things that are wildly off target. The room was spacious and fairly comfortable, though needing a bit of attention--peeling paint, saggy loveseat, better pillows. A good place for a base to explore the region and basically be a place to sleep between excursions.

Jeg bodde her en natt ifm biltur i England. Rommet hadde bra størrelse, var komfortabelt og koselig. De fleste forventede fasiliteter var tilgjengelig; - TV - Vannkoker med kaffe,kjeks og te - WIFI Badet var lite, men fungerte fint Begge var meget godt rengjort, men gulvteppet hadde mange store flekker, og på badet flasset malingen av listverk - det trengs litt vedlikehold. Parkering skjer på hotellets området (inkludert) Stedet ligger isolert fra alt annet - transport er følgelig påkrevet Jeg spiste middag i hotellets pub. Menyen bestod av typiske pubretter. Min middag var helt grei mhp kvalitet og porsjons størrelse, men dette er definitivt ikke noen Gastropub. Støynivået i lokalet var meget høyt. Før avreise spiste jeg frokost (ikke inkludert) i puben - den smakte meget godt 😋😋😋

Very pleasant and good value place tp stay

Rooms a little tired particularly the bathroom. Staff very friendly and pub food not bad at all. Very strange that breakfast was from 9.30am, which was too late for us as we had a business meeting in Swindon.

Excellent Food and Room

The staff in the bar and at check in were super friendly and helpful. The room was really lovely. Roomy, comfortable, good size tv and large en-suite bathroom. Quiet, warm and lovely biscuits in the room. Best of all the mattress was soooooo comfortable. We had lunch in the bar which was yummy too. Would highly recommend staying and eating at The Tawny Owl.

Clean room easy parking.

Arrived about 6pm to be told hot meals ceased at 4:30! Hugely disappointed, one of the primary reasons for choosing this property was the prospect of a pub meal having been travelling all day.

Room lovely large all renovated lovely atmosphere in the pub was great for a Wednesday night. Food very good and reasonably priced would stay again. Staff a credit to them

The room was excellent, bar staff ok. Disappointed breakfast was unavailable until 9h 30. Had to leave without breakfast or coffee.

Nice room, clean and comfortable. Easy check in with Mel, she gave us the full low-down on arrival. Unexpected live band but not too noisy in the room (what do you expect, it is a pub) and they closed down by about 11:30. Would gladly stay again

When we were shown to our room, initially I thought it was very well presented and looked like a lovely, cosy place to stay. However as we settled in I began noticing some cleanliness issues. There was toothpaste marks on the sink in the bathroom which had been left by previous guests and not cleaned properly. The chairs in the room were extremely grubby and dusty and covered in stains. We then went down for dinner at 7pm an hour after checking in, only to be told the kitchen had closed. The blind in the room was covered god knows how many dead bugs stuck to the blind. There were spiders, flies and other bugs rolled up in it. There was also mould on the bathroom ceiling and wall. I explained some of the issues when i checked out but i didnt feel like staff cared. Have also emailed feedback and not heard back from them. Very disappointing and wouldnt return.
