Nettes Hotel, in einem der abgelegensten Orte, die wir auf Island besucht haben. Sehr hilfsbereites Personal, saubere Zimmer, gutes Frühstück- aber das beste war die Lage direkt am Meer. Wir haben einige schlechte Bewertungen über das Hotel gelesen wurden aber im Gegenteil positiv von der Unterkunft überrascht. Für 1-2 Nächte mehr als okay und wir würden hier wieder übernachten.

Lovely room in the annex. Unfortunately let down by what appears to be severe cost cutting . No shampoo, conditioner or body lotion in the room. Very loor breakfast. Pre made coffee in an urn, undrinkable. Bored staff, empty orange juice and blueberry joghurt bowl for our whole breakfast, 3 staff members walked by and shuffled glasses next to the empty pots and did nothing. Almost empty hot food containers, we did arrive fairly early so no excuse for any of the above. Really noisy room, virtually no noise insulation to the room above, my partner hardly slept due to the noise. Unfortunately I can not recommend this hotel

My stay at Hótel Blönduós was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had in Iceland. Everything started badly: I received a message informing me that the hotel had been rented out to a private company and that I had to choose between two alternatives. I picked Hotel Laugarbakki, their “sister hotel,” which unfortunately felt more like the neglected, poor relative of the family. The property itself had an unsettling atmosphere, almost like a budget version of the Overlook Hotel from The Shining. The “luxury” room I was given was dirty, the bathroom door was a smoked‑glass panel that let in every bit of Icelandic summer daylight, and the blackout curtains were completely ineffective. To make things worse, the towels were dirty and even torn, and the room clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. The whole situation felt misleading and unprofessional. I genuinely believe neither of the options they offered is worth considering.

Beautiful view. Conveniently located. Friendly staff. Stayed in one of the apartments with ocean view. Newly renovated. Good breakfast.

Blev ombooket til Hotel Laugarbakki med samme ejer i god tid før ankomst. Som kompensation blev vi opgraderet til større/bedre værelse og gratis velkomstdrink med frit valg fra vin-/drinkskort. Meget venlig og engageret personale - og adgang til hot-tub uden beregning (badekåbe på værelset, så bad og omklædning før hot-tub kunne ske her. Rigtig fin og veltilberedt mad i restauranten.

We were contacted a few weeks before our stay to be told that the hotel had been rented out to a private company. We were given 2 options including moving to the sister hotel 40 mins further, and given an upgraded room, or to an apartment on the same site. It was made clear that the apartment was an upgrade but that there were no staff on site and no breakfast available. We had chosen the hotel for its location overlooking the water so opted for the apartments. The apartment was spacious with lovely linen in the bedroom and plenty of towels. However, my apartment only had two coffee sachets and no pods despite there being a machine and no tea whereas my friend in an adjacent apartment had tea and coffee pods. The apartment looked clean although the floor was 'gritty' in places and the windows were filthy so the view of the ocean was a little hampered. The shower was lovely but it didn't drain well so I had to spend time mopping up only to find that my friend had the same problem. I was also charged for the room in Euros rather than the original ISK. Given that this was our 3rd most expensive hotel (for the original room) it was disappointing. Clearly the apartments hadn't really been prepared for the season and I expect we didn't get the usual experience there. It would have been better if we had been cancelled. Interestingly the other accommodation was cheaper than we'd paid when I looked. All in all disappointing but clearly would be much better when open!

On arrival given the wrong apartment twice. No cooking facilities when told self catering. Overall communication with staff good. Overall was very clean warm and spacious with a superb view of the sea.

The staff was amazing! Please do yourself a favor and stay in one of Iceland’s oldest operating hotels. Treat yourself to The Magistrate, a lamb burger, it’s delicious!
