Need to make the elevator less scary.... I did not use it after the first time , I was on the 5th floor and the elevator dropped 10-12 inches at the top. Decided to use all 124 stairs instead.

This hotel is AMAZING!
Beautiful building in a prominent position looking out to the beach with gated parking; it has a grand presence both inside & out. Lots of options for rooms with a sea view, some with a balcony.
Helpful staff (we saw a lot of Alfredo on the main desk & he was brilliant!), everything was clean & the food fantastic.
Breakfast was a large buffet catering for different dietary requirements plus a la carte options if preferred. There was a separate bar serving cocktails; & a further dining room where we were well looked after for evening meals.
Out back is a garden & pool open during high season.
Everything is reasonably priced & no hidden extras. We'll be going back!

Absolutely fantastic. Lovely staff. Great food. Fantastic pool and pool bar. Location is great. Shops and restaurants opposite hotel. Bicycles for hire. Near train station.

Beautiful building. Great front desk staff who spoke excellent English and were very helpful. Restaurant staff also efficient. Our room was spacious and house keeping always kept room immaculately clean. Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a fabulous stay in Viareggio.

Great Hotel in the centre of Viareggio. Beautiful with a great and welcoming staff. Lovely pool and bar. Wonderful breakfast buffet. We have stayed here at least 6 times and will book again for next year

We honeymooned in Viareggio 20 years ago and returned for our 20th anniversary last week. On arrival at the Grand Hotel Royal, the Receptionist said they’d upgraded us to a room with a balcony facing the seafront, which was really lovely….each evening we sat on the balcony, drinking a glass of wine before dinner and watching the world go by.
Throughout our stay, the staff were all really helpful and friendly, the food was excellent (except for the steak) and the peaceful swimming pool and bar area is like a secluded oasis, surrounded by trees that block out the neighbouring building.
If we ever return to Viareggio, we will definitely stay at the Grand Hotel Royal again!

What a place! The town has a cool Cannes vibe but nicer and less crowds. The hotel is terrific and a time capsule from the 30’s with great upgrades notably a pool. Food was great at the hotel as well. Staff friendly and accommodating

What an elegant place! Time turned back and I was living in an old movie, but with current day amenities. The staff was so professional and attentive. We had lunch at the pool, dinner at the restaurant, and the breakfast buffet. Each meal was perfect.
I haven’t felt so relaxed and comfortable since well before Covid.
What a special place!
