Morven Hotel Colombo

No where near a 4 star hotel. There was a bad smell on the floors and even worse in our room that had a smell like ammonia. The room had clearly dirty bedsheets and towels. The tapestry was peeling from the wall and there were clear moisture damage. The bed was also hard as a board. We went to the reception to complain and did get a new room without any issues. But there was no conversation no apologies or anything. The new room was only a little better. It was less smelly and the bed was better but the sheets and towels still har clear spots. We tried to change towels a few times but had to accept that it was just not possible to get clean towels at this “4 star” hotel. Even towels they told us were “completely new”. There is no sound isolation. You can hear every word of people in the hallway and even the bass from the rooftop bar (our room was on the 3rd floor). Also we had a cockroach in the room. All in all not recommended!! Oh and the rooftop bar tried to scam us and asked for 5200 for something that should be around 3500 with the added 10% service charge. My friend just paid on the card machine without checking and they tried to throw out the receipt. But I asked for it so we saw the overcharge. After much discussion they gave us 1000 back. Remember to check your bills if you go to the bar!

C’est un hôtel quand on vient, il est grand, il est bien l'entrée, la réception, la pleine lune, tout va bien le Rooftop mais malheureusement la chambre est pas confortable du tout le lit est très dur et la chambre est très vieille les fenêtres ne s’ouvrent pas c’est assez difficile, je conseille pas trop si vous aimez le comfort

Everyone should have their choice to wear masks

Clean rooms. Decent breakfast. Walkable (albeit a long walk) to tourist sites in the center.

Everything is perfect, good location, staffs very nice, EXCEPT for wifi, no connection in the room and I need it for my work, so I got to change to another place near by.

Photos looks nice, but they weren’t true. The hotel room door was thin as paper and you could hear everything in the hallway, and both staff and guests would shout out loud at any time during the night. A/C didn’t really work, the room was quite humid. When showering the water flowed over the entire bathroom, and there were only bath towels provided. Stains on the bad linens and the pool and pool area upstairs was not tempting. Didn’t try any of the food.

Very nice place

Whilst in bed,at 11 pm a tour group arrived on my fllor,they were all extremely noisey and showed no consideration to sleeping guests.I had booked a 2 am wake up call but was woken by this group at 11,i opened my door twice...to confront them..at 11.15 and again at 11.50 when i raised my voice to them all..it was unneccessary as management should of requested and quieter transition to their rooms when thay checked in..

Nice hotel. Big room. Well situated . Cute rooftop pool. On the negative side, the hotel staff find you in the street and try to bring you places to spend at their very aggressively friends.

Nice hotel, lovely staff, Not really near anything but nice and flat to navigate.

This is a well located hotel with an enjoyable view on the ocean. Rooms were comfy and we slept well on our rooms on 3rd and 4th floors (ie no big noisy from busy road). Staff were attentive but seemed disorganised: we got one room much later then the 2pm check in time, one bag which was not mine was left in my room and bizarrely we were called to pay a bill from a restaurant were we did not go! maybe it was just a bad day :-)

Staff promised the earth, delivered unbroken promises. Days after the promised contact from the manager, still nothing although told he would reply within 2 hours. Tv broken, charge points not working, bedside table damaged. Cancelling return trip as not even an apology let alone a resolution.

Staff are so kind.
