Konokono was a beautiful resort. I really enjoyed the beauty of the bungalow beach villa we stayed in. It was my birthday and they welcomed me with a little decoration in the room which was so cute. The food was great, it definitely gave fine dining but the fixed menu for dinner was delicious. The staff were very nice and helpful. There are monkeys on site, which was cool. They also have someone you can book activities with at lobby. The beach is beautiful but close up to shore needs to be cleaned and or need to put a garbage near by so people don’t litter. The only thing i could say about this hotel is that it is a very quiet and peaceful resort. Not much amenities. So if you are looking for somewhere to just have peace and quiet then this is your place. There is no vibes here just a laid back getaway. Beatrice was very nice and the staff as well. I think it would be good for them to promote that this hotel is a tranquility hotel so that people are not caught off guard with the type of vibes they may be looking for during their stay. Nevertheless it’s a beautiful resort in Zanzibar.

Si può riassumere in una sola parola l’esperienza al Konokono?! PARADISO!
All’arrivo ti ritrovi subito immerso nella natura e vieni ricevuto da persone di una gentilezza e dolcezza estrema. Nonostante un disguido di prenotazione con il nostro tour operator, Mohammed risolve in modo estremamente professionale la situazione, preoccupandosi per il nostro benessere e di non farci sentire a disagio. Noi abbiamo soggiornato in una delle splendide ville nella giungla: design molto raffinato e ottima pulizia/ordine. É capitato spesso, mentre ci rilassavamo nella nostra piscina privata, di avere la compagnia di scimmiette meravigliose (siamo in Africa e siamo estremamente grate di averle avute intorno a noi). La spiaggia e il mare sono stati una sorpresa continua: abbiamo avuto l’esperienza di vivere le varie fasi della luna e di conseguenza della marea. Il mare non ha nulla da invidiare ad altre zone di Zanzibar e la sabbia é semplicemente bianchissima. Riconfermo, un paradiso! Un’altra nota piú che positiva é stata la cucina: un menù a la carte con piatti curati sia nell’estetica che nel gusto. Asante sana a Beatrice, a Mohammed, a tutto lo staff del resort e ai Masai Thomas e Matteo che ci hanno fatto vivere un’esperienza indimenticabile.

Quiet, calm and relaxing place in paradise. Amazing rooms/houses. The view from the pool over the beach is amazing. Really loved this place and the people who worked there. Would higky recomend this place to everyone.

Perfect stay in Zanzibar. If you want a quiet, cosy and well-maintained place in the island, Konkokoro is an ideal place to stay. We felt like having a private beach :). The food was delicious. The staff was so nice. Facility is clean.

Overall, it was an absolutely amazing experience - we stayed in the over-water villa.
Extremely helpful staff, great service, amazing food options, the views were incredible, 2 restaurant options so overall very pleased with that.
One thing to be aware of is that they do have an electricity issue where randomly in the middle of the night, they are left with no electricity. I was told it's the whole island problem so bear that in mind. Also, their villas aren't entirely sealed so I had a few ants crawl into my luggage and a few lizards on the outside of the villa.
It is a bit further out from the rest of the island so you'll need a hire car or taxi to get to other places if you do decide to leave the resort.
Overall: I'd highly recommend it! Thank you for a wonderful hospitality.

Je déconseille cet hôtel, qui n’a que la superbe plage pour lui. C’est bien là le seul point positif de cet hôtel. En aucun cas c’est un 5 étoiles, les finitions sont déplorables, l’hôtel en lui même n’ai pas entretenu, la nourriture est très peu varié et hors de prix pour ce que c’est ( en effet il ne suffit pas de mettre trois rondelles de concombre et une demi tomate dans une jolie assiette avec des points de sauce pour que ce soit un plat travaillé). Extrement déçu, heureusement nous n’avions réservé que deux nuits. Le personnel n’ai pas très aimable et on ne se sent pas à l’aise. Je déconseille vraiment, les photos sont très jolies mais ne relate pas la réalité, de plus la route pour arrivé jusqu’à l’hôtel est une horreur, un 4x4 est presque obligatoire. De plus, nous devions avoir la chambre pour 14h, nous avons dû attendre presque 1h pour que quelqu’un nous y emmène enfin, bref gardez votre argent et dépensez le dans un autre hôtel !

Vi bodde i «overlater villa» Fantastisk opphold på et fantastisk hotell. Nydelig ferskvannsbasseng og mer enn nok privatliv på terrassen. Det beste med stedet er menneskene som jobber der. De var nydelige og tenkte på alt.

My stay at konokono in the over water villa was horrendous taking in to consideration how much you are spending. The food variety and the actual food itself is extremely poor, I ordered beef but it was though I was chewing on a tyre. The only thing good was the fruit. I previously went to 2 hotels in Zanzibar before konokono which were also 5* where the food was prepared by excellent chefs.
Furthermore, the overwater villa is not private at all, whilst taking a shower there are fisherman and boats which go past and there’s no curtain on the window so you can be seen naked. The interior of the room is out of date and a lot of dust when taken a look at in detail.
The worse part is where the hotel is located, it’s a 10-12 minute bumpy ride once you see the sign of the hotel.
Would not recommend this hotel at all, Riu palace is an excellent place located in a lively area. Alma boutique is also very good if you are looking for somewhere a little more quiet.
I give konokono 3*
