The Local - Hostel

Only good thing was the view from the hotel and the staff. This was my first time staying at a Hostel. I will not be doing it again . The bunk beds were so squeaky and rooms so small. The place around was below average . According to my roomies they said it was better than most hostels they have been in. My money is better spent on getting a hotel

I can not rant and rave enough about this property. I can not wait to stay here again! The vibes were immaculate, very chill and open. Front desk was there to help with any questions I’ve had. I love the in-house bar and coffee bar. They always have events. I stayed two nights in the all womens dorm. When I stayed it was poetry night Friday then R&B night Saturday. Love the lounge and computer areas. Despite the events, the rooms are very quiet. I heard nothing! And I got to meet some cool people. There are some eateries within walking distance like pizza, Mexican, another bar and another coffee shop. I was very satisfied with my stay and will definitely be back! I love this hostel <3

Felt super safe in this area of New York City. The common area is great to chill. It's calm and great to get out of the shared bedroom area. The bed is comfy and the bathroom area is clean enough. For sure it was nice to comeback to this place after a long day of going around the city. One little issue is that the shared kitchen is not closed so even if there's a sign saying that it's off limit for people not living at the hostel, it that makes it even more vulnerable to people stealing food (hope the onigiris were good, person who stole them.) The hostel offered me $20 back. However for now I haven't seen anything in my bank account.

This is a great stay at wonderful rate that is in a very convenient location. Everyone on staff is friendly, a lot of great amenities on location. I would highly recommend this stay.

Super close to the nearest metro stop, felt safe in my room, staff was super accommodating and sweet. would definitely stay here again

Cute place mostly seams to be college age people clean nice welcoming and quiet it’s people but not loud violent or problematic it’s nice like living in a coffee shop with people working and doing homework nice enviroment

Has a great stay especially for my first time in nyc, Ronald was very friendly and gave amazing customer service. Will definitely be returning!

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience. I checked in at about 9:00 PM. I was attempting to pay my hotel deposit with tears running down my face from how windy it outside. I couldn’t see the card machine it was so bad, and the front desk lady just stared at me as I struggled. Finally I asked for some tissues so I could see and she said no. Not even getting to the worst part. I get to my room, plop my clothes down on a chair, and step into a shower. And step into cold water. The shower room was the size of a closet, and inside was an inch of overflowing water. My clothes were soaked, and who knows what was in the water. I go back to the front desk lady and she brings up a vacuum. At this point 3 people were sleeping in my room, and none of them had reported the flooding. The vacuum failed and we had to get the bartender. He was very nice and helped swap some dollars for quarters to dry my soaked clothes. He’s the only reason this review isn’t one star. At the end the front desk woman looks at me and says “Are you good.” No, I was not good. It was an hour and a half later, I had dying to go to sleep as soon as I stepped into the hostel, and she had not shown an ounce of respect. I was not good. I finally got my shower and had to go back for my clothes. And I will not be going back there again. Thank you to that random bartender, he was very sweet.

I really liked the location of this place because it’s away from super crowded areas. The subway was a 5 minute walk from the hostel which was really nice. I was able to visit all the touristy areas using the transportation nearby. The hostel itself was clean, warm rooms, good water pressure in showers. The only problem I had was trying to get a room with my two other friends, we asked a couple times if we could room together but they couldn’t. Other than that it was great, more than likely I’ll stay here again next time I visit.

It was very easy to get into Manhattan

Just, really excellent. From the Front Desk staff, to the Housekeepers. The staff makes everything most pleasing. This staff is top notch. Great kitchen to cook. Laundry. Nightly events.
