The Upper Pass Lodge at Magic Mountain

Checked in just before 7pm and them ran into town for dinner came back after 9pm room was about 85 degrees and musty ac off. Would have left and drove home but about 4 hrs away and had tired kids. And last room. The house keeper could have left a/c on knowing room was rented. Just staying 1 night and thats to much.

friendly person, cute first floor. overall run down facility. Room was tiny and the wall air conditioning didnt work. IIt was 85 in there when we went in. They didnot mention the standalone cooling unit in the wardrobe area... The pool was green-ish and very cold. In a pinch it's fine but I would not choose to visit again

The folks were very nice. Had to wait about 10 minutes on someone from the bar/diner to come and check us in. The room card didn't work so back to the front for help! The room with the bunk beds was very warm since there wasn't an AC in there and the mattresses were definitely for kids! Overall, the visit was nice and clean with plenty of towels. I would go back.

Property is run down and outdated and didn’t smell the best. Could only get one channel on tv. Had a couple of store bought coffee cakes for breakfast.

I don't usually leave reviews but I do feel it's good feedback to say the rooms are in need of an update. The beds were rock solid, the pillows were too large to be comfortable. I'm kind of shocked no one else has mentioned this in reviews. It was the worst sleep I've had at a hotel which was frustrating after a full day of driving. When I walked in it smelled strange and chemically, at least I knew it was clean but a bit overwhelming. Weirdly, the shower had no soap bar holder so it was a bit inconvenient to shower. On the good side, the restaurant was nice and convenient to have. The restaurant staff were very nice and were a highlight to this hotel. They were sweet people to talk to. The lobby area was nice to hang out in as well. I was here during summer in June, so less people around in general. There is not much around in terms of food.

Enjoyed our stay in pet friendly accommodations

The only problem was the quite non-transparent after-hours check-in procedure. The first time I was sent the link to the OpenKey app, my phone number hadn't even been put into the system, so OpenKey couldn't find my reservation. Then when I was sent a check-in message again (on the day of my reservation), there wasn't enough information about the OpenKey check-in process. I tried to use OpenKey on my phone on the outside door of my room, and it didn't work. Lucky that I thought to try OpenKey on the front desk entrance! But then OpenKey didn't work on my hallway room door either. Lucky that my roommate thought to look behind the front desk and found a key card envelope left for us! None of this crucial information was provided in any of the check-in messages or via the OpenKey app. Other than the rather alarming check-in confusion late at night with no human contact or back-up check-in support, the stay was just fine. The room was quiet, comfortable and well maintained. But on leaving the next morning, we had to track down someone in the attached restaurant to confirm that we couldn't lock either of the room doors on departure, and had to drop our room key cards into an unsecured box. So anybody could have just walked into our room after we'd left, and by default we might be held responsible for any damage they did? Not reassuring! Re-think the room access and security issues to be a bit more user-friendly, and I'll be happy to visit again.

Needs some serious updating. The finishes are worn and everything needs painting. Good news...the room was clean and spacious.
