We recently stayed at El Conquistador Resort for a family getaway, and while the property itself is breathtaking, our experience had a mix of highs and lows. 🌴 The Good: • The resort grounds are stunning, with panoramic views that truly take your breath away. • The pools and surrounding areas were well-maintained and clean, making it easy to relax and enjoy the scenery. • The private island was a highlight—serene, picturesque, and a unique experience. We rented a cabana, which came with complimentary water and fruit, though service was limited after the initial setup. • Staff across the resort were consistently friendly and welcoming. • Our room was spacious, with a large, clean bathroom that felt luxurious. 🍽️ The Not-So-Good: • For a resort of this caliber, the food was disappointing. It was expensive and lacked flavor, and the kids’ menu offered little variety—essentially the same option at every venue. • The shower was a letdown. Despite maintenance efforts, the water remained cold, which was frustrating after a long day. • The air conditioning was another issue. It wouldn’t cool below 68°F, and even after maintenance adjusted it to 65°F, the room became warm overnight. • Given the size of the resort, we expected more kid-friendly activities. There’s definitely room to expand offerings for families traveling with children. Overall: We enjoyed our stay, but left feeling that the experience didn’t quite match the price tag.

The food was not the best in the Tappas. Bar , had bad rotten lettuce in my $18 salad and told the waitress who did nothing and went back to chatting with her coworkers, service was bad and the place was not busy . Staff standing around chatting , never checked in on us

Our summer family vacation at El Conquistador was truly unforgettable! As first-time visitors to Puerto Rico, we couldn’t have chosen a better place. The property is perfect for families, offering everything you need to keep everyone entertained—delicious restaurants, fun activities, and amazing pools. The highlight for us was Palomino Island—a private paradise that feels like a dream. The views from the hotel are simply breathtaking! The staff was always friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Our room was spotless every day thanks to the incredible cleaning team, and the organization was perfect. The water park brought endless joy to the kids, and evenings were just as special—whether playing together, taking a dip in the pool, or enjoying the live music. This was the perfect summer trip for our family, and we can’t wait to return!

Amazing

We really enjoyed the friendly staff, the cleanliness and the wonderful viewed throughout the resort. Loved the breakfast buffet at "Ventanas". On our prior visit, the restaurant was not open since Hurricane Maria caused damage to the property, so it was a pleasant surprise to find it was reopened. Our 10 yr old granddaugther loved the food at Ventanas & loved Coqui water park as well. The only negative issue was the sunken bathtubs/shower in our room. My husband & I both have knee/hip issues, so it was painful geting in & out of the bathtub. Will definitely call the property to inquire if all rooms have the same issue. Besides that, our stay was outstanding!

El Conquistador Resort – 4/5 ⭐️ Overall, we had a great stay. The views are stunning, the pools and water park are fantastic, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location made it easy to explore the area. The downsides: parking was a real challenge — far from the main areas and often crowded. The trams were frequently inoperable, which meant long waits or a lot of walking in the heat. If the transportation and parking issues were fixed, this would be an easy 5-star experience.

El lugar es espectacularmente hermoso un palacio!! Son todos muy serviciales, los cuartos son grandes limpios y con la mejor vista al mar que puedas tener. Pagas lo que vale la estadía. Las piscinas son grandes y muy limpias. Disfrutamos de parques acuático incluido y del ferri que nos llevo a Palomino.

Make sure the rooms are renovated. Our initial room was very rundown. We had to upgrade which cost us extra. Great facility however the extra charge was unacceptable

BAD: staff at the valet spent more time on tjeir phones than assistinh guests. I stood withu wife and 4-year-old for nearñy 10 minubefore someone acknowledged us and then waited 20 more minutes for someone to help us find our room on the far end of the property. GOOD: Everything else about the resort!

There were a few food options. We enjoyed the food on the private island the best. Property was well kept and was very clean.

Title: Beautiful Resort, But Not Worth the Hype We stayed at El Conquistador in Fajardo, booked through Expedia. While the views and public areas are stunning, there’s a lot travelers should know. The drive from the airport took about an hour and was smooth, but check-in was a mess—long lines, our reservation wasn’t found, and it took over an hour to get our room. The resort is massive—more like a cruise ship on land. If you’re hoping to step out of your room onto a beach or by a pool, this isn’t it. Everything requires walking or shuttles. We stayed at the marina, which was far from the main areas. Walking to your car (unless you valet) can take 20–30 minutes. There is no beach onsite—you’ll need to take a 20-minute ferry to Palomino Island. It wasn’t impressive, especially with the sargassum. Better beaches can be found off-resort. Also, we had no hot water during our 4-day stay. The front desk dismissed the issue and never resolved it. Food at the resort was underwhelming; local spots were far better. Staff overall were friendly, but the front desk experience was poor. This resort is ideal if you want to stay put in a huge, scenic property—but not great for a relaxed beach vacation. I’ve stayed in better places and wouldn’t return.
