Great stay in a clean, comfortable hotel. Good size bedroom great bathroom

The armchairs in the reception area needed the seats respringing so were quite uncomfortable and couldn’t draw the curtains in the room properly because they had partly come away from the rail . Also the mattress was quite lumpy . £152 seemed rather expensive for a one night stay .

Some improvements since the last time I stayed. They are trying! Still not quite four stars, and no lift. But has historical charm and is not neglected.

The room is clean and the staff is helpful. Breakfast spread is decent. The room appears to be recent renovated.

Very well located hotel about 5 mins from Salisbury Cathedral and the city centre.

Some noise from an event that was taking place the evening I stayed. However, I was made aware of these at check in and that efforts had been made to locate the room as far from the event as possible. The event stopped before midnight.

While appreciating the age of the hotel there's a few things that disappointed. The shower was pretty weak, the aircon didn't work but two oil heaters were supplied. The TV signal failed occasionally and the bed while huge in the Privilege room was a bit hard and lumpy. We'd requested 2 extra pillows what weren't issued. The coffee machine barely worked with too little whole milk portions supplied (barely enough for 2 cups). The other alternative was Nescafe Original sachets (which seems to be standard for Mercure hotels). The location is excellent though and while the car park is handy and a good price (£7.50) the rear entrance is a bit hazardous underfoot. Staff are friendly enough but I needed to remind them about my parking charge and wasn't asked at checking out whether we had enjoyed our stay.

Perfect location, close to everything you want to see. A great advantage (and a reason why we picked this hotel) is the car park, big and very reasonably priced. Clean and comfortable rooms. Very nice and helpful staff. The only complain would be breakfast which was more expensive when pain during booking (at £16 per person) than it was when you were there (£12.95). Plus, if you pay £16 per breakfast you don't want to ask for things to be put on a buffet. There were two pieces of salami and two pieces of ham on a "meat" tray and three kinds of cheese, again two pieces each, on a "cheese" tray. When my husband took the ham I asked if more could be brought and the waitress did bring more. Two slices. We were not the only people there.

Hotel was ok but bedroom freezing with air con unit above bed that old had cold air as heating element not working

Hotel was brilliant, close to all bars restaurants and shopping, the staff were absolutely lovely.

I've been going to the White Hart for 30 years and thank goodness it still retains it's old world charm, especially in the lounge area (please get rid of the music coming through the speakers). The staff are the icing on the cake. Kind and attentive they try their best to help their visitors. Especially Georgina on reception and I think it was Alex in catering. The staff are what makes this place feel safe and friendly for a lone female traveller. Facilities in the building are a bit tired, my shower room definitely needed blinds on the very large Georgian windows. Even though the glass was non-transparent when the light was on in the shower room one's silhouette must have been visible to the outside world. The shower itself only produced a lukewarm dribble - that might be because I was not using it properly

Quick weekend visit, not sure i've ever been to a hotel where the staff have been more friendly. It was as if it was a long lost family reunion. The building is oldish and characterful in a good way. Our room was lovely and quiet, spacious too. I was going to give the bed a 5 star rating but then i thought i had to find something to criticise, the only thing was i heard a twang from a bed spring, that was it, perfect night's sleep apart from a "twang". I can heartily recommend this place to stay. It was lovely. Oh, and it's so convenient to town too.

Classic older hotel with friendly, helpful staff. However, there is no lift and the stairs were a little difficult at my age.

Tatty building. Tiny bathroom - couldn't get into the shower because it was so awkward. Tiny sink. Room was freezing and heating limited. Nothing about was good apart from the receptionist who was efficient. Never again.
