Our stay was overshadowed by a serious incident and the hotel’s disappointing response afterwards.
At approximately 12:30am, my wife and I were woken by repeated knocking on our room door. After several attempts, a member of staff then used a key and attempted to enter our occupied room. At the time, we had no idea who the individual was or why they were trying to gain access, which was understandably unsettling.
The following morning we discovered this was the result of an error made during check-in. While we accept that mistakes can happen, we expected the incident and its impact to be taken seriously. Instead, we were repeatedly told it was an “honest mistake”, had to explain the situation multiple times, and a promised callback never happened.
Our concern is not simply that an error was made, but how it was handled afterwards. Being disturbed in the middle of the night by someone attempting to enter your room raises obvious security concerns, yet the eventual offer of 5% compensation felt wholly inadequate and failed to reflect either the incident itself or the poor complaint handling that followed.
Prospective guests can make their own judgement, but based on our experience, the response fell well below the standard we would expect from a hotel.
Just as an addition, the hotel was essentially a construction site.
