Great location, disappointing stay (Room 129) The hotel is in a fantastic location right on the High Street and looks lovely from the outside. The bar area is nice, and the staff were friendly and welcoming on arrival. However, the experience quickly became underwhelming. The hotel feels tired throughout, stairs and carpets need refurbishing, and the lift is very small and dated. While it’s an older building, it lacks upkeep. We stayed in Room 129, which was bland and lacked character, with plain décor. The carpets needed cleaning, especially in corners. The bathroom was small and a bit dingy. The bed was extremely soft and uncomfortable, with an uneven feel. The TV was mounted crooked, and the curtains didn’t block out light properly. The net curtain looked grey and unclean. Breakfast was the biggest disappointment. Aside from self-service coffee and cereal, everything (even toast) had to be ordered, leading to delays and a frustrating experience, one of the worst hotel breakfasts I’ve had. Overall, while the staff were pleasant and the location is excellent, the hotel feels worn and didn’t meet expectations. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t return.

Das Personal am Empfang war freundlich. Das Personalgefühl wurde jedoch beim Frühstück völlig zerstört. Junge Dame Anfang 20 am Frühstücksempfang hielt sich für die schönste im Land, schmatzte die ganze Zeit laut auf dem Kaugummi rum. Der Bitte für Ausländer langsamer englisch zu sprechen ist sie nicht nachgekommen. Mit ihrem Kollegen hat sie sich die ganze Zeit laut unterhalten und noch lauter gelacht und sich überhaupt nicht um die Gäste gekümmert und gefragt ob sie noch was möchten. Das Benehmen des Personals ist vielleicht in einem schlecht geführtem Dorfpub möglich, aber nicht für so ein Hotel. Das Frühstück war den Preis nicht wert. Empfehlung: der Standort ist der Beste am Ort. Übernachten und draußen Frühstücken. Sollte die junge Mitarbeiterin auf Grund dieser Rezzesion Ärger bekommen, hat sie das voll verdient. Mein Orangensaft wurde beim Bedienen ausgeschüttet, der kostet extra und wurde nicht aufgefüllt und mein T-Shirt hatte einen Fleck. Das Frühstückspersonal ist das Schlechteste was ich bisher je hatte. Das Bett sah super aus, war aber viel zu weich - für eine Nacht gehts.

Room had mould and not very clean. Paid for bed and breakfast but we had to leave early and they couldn’t provide breakfast, again tried to charge us again on the way out. Music was blasting all night and got no sleep.

We had no hot water in our room so couldn’t use the bath or shower, the air conditioning unit did not work and the room wasn’t well cleaned. I have to say that after speaking with the staff at the hotel they were very helpful and did offer a refund for the affected night, but we did check out a night early to find a different hotel as the problems weren’t resolved and a new room couldn’t be offered due to it being fully booked. It’s quite run down and was a disappointment, we expected it to be nicer than it was and definitely expected the basic things like hot water to work. It is in a great location, right in the center of everything and good for a night but if you’re looking for something more romantic for say an anniversary then I would probably avoid. It’s a shame as it could be much nicer if it had a bit of TLC.

Nicely located in town centre. Clean and modern inside, whilst still keeping to the old features of the interior

Generally the standard of hygiene could be improved dramatically , just very dusty and dirty in certain areas. They just need to hoover the carpet more. We had a blocked sink and the water wasn’t very warm despite setting to maximum. I understand other guests had similar issues. Positives were - very friendly staff, comfy bed and oreo snacks were nice

The hotel is comfortable , staff attentive and the room was spacious and quiet. I bought and paid in advance for a continental breakfast which I assumed would be a bit more than one bowl of oats, an orange juice and a coffee. Any refills were charged extra as were fruit, toast or croissants. It all seemed a bit mean and I don’t think anyone from ‘the continent ‘ would have recognised this as being ‘normal’.

Frühstück hat leider nur aus einer Auswahl aus 3 Bereichen bestanden: Café/Cappuccino/Tea…. und Overnight oat / Joghurt mit Müsli / Croissants … und Apfel-/Orangensaft… Alles weitere musste extra bezahlt werden. Leider konnten wir das bei der Buchung mit Frühstück auf den ersten nicht erkennen… Kontinental war uns bis dati kein Begriff … man lernt nie aus :-)

Restaurant food on premise was delicious. Staff were kind and considerate. Bags conveniently and securely stored while exploring the city.

The 'continental breakfast' was a mean offering. You're allowed to choose one item from a list, plus juice and coffee. 'Seasonal Fruits' consisted of a choice between an orange or a pear. Refills are charged as extras!! Appalling!

Lovely stay, friendly staff. Comfortable stay with all that you need in a great location. Only one little moan that the Breakfast menu pricing is a little miss leading

Fantatic place to stay when away for work.

The hotel is centrally located so perfect to discover Canterbury by foot. The staff are nice and the barman made us a mean Negroni. We highly recommend staying there if you want to visit Canterbury, and make the most if its restaurants and pubs in the evening.
