We stayed in room 101. The room itself was good but the balcony had not been cleaned as a Yorkshire teabag was stuck on the wall and there was lots of bird poo on the seats. The glass surrounding the balcony could of done with a clean. The balcony rooms cost extra so the balcony should of been cleaned. The rest of the stay was exceptional.

Be better if could have more than two hours in spa plus able to use out door spa included not extra

The property was as described and very well presented. The included breakfast was great. This hotel was a good place from which we could explore York.

Very welcoming staff and pleasant hotel with beautiful surroundings. Elements restaurant is classy with a good menu. The Spa area is clean and the option to use the outdoor hydro pool is an added bonus (additional £20 pp for 2 hours) but on a sunny day is worth it. Parking is short walk away, but this is not an issue.

Check in was ok unaware about breakfast times and wifi access Property excellent very clean and classy Breakfast was a little slow at coming not much choice on cold buffet needed replenishing no fresh fruit available

Absolutely beautiful hotel. But short staffed. So had to wait around waiting for staff all the time

Staff gave a lovely warm welcome. Ollie and Will ran the bar with excellent customer service skills. Room was nice and spacious with plenty of toiletries etc and nice fluffy towels. Spa was disappointing, only has a steam room and a sauna, had expected more rooms after such a major refuribshment/investment. £20 for use of one outdoor hydro pool is a bit epxensive.

Unfortunately there was a large amount of building work going on and out room directly overlook the building work so no view whatsoever ever. Asked about a room change and the duty manager said there was nothing available didn’t offer any alternatives and didn’t ask if we would like to upgrade at a cost to ourselves.

Paid for a suite , room itself was lovely and large , beautiful bathroom. When we arrived at the room in the afternoon all the bedroom curtains were closed , including the ones to the outdoor balcony. Once we opened them we realised why …… a massive building project , scaffolding etc literally metres away from our room , so much for the garden view . Room was looking a bit tired cosmetically but still lovely , house keeping must only clean from eye level down as when I got into bed the ceiling had the BIGGEST cobweb I had ever seen! Restaurant was lovely and was the bar area , staff were friendly and attentive . Food was delicious and plenty of choice on the menu . I would stay again but it’s disappointing the hotel didn’t make abundantly clear that some rooms were majorly impacted by the large scale building works . When I mentioned it to reception , a lack lustre sorry was the full extent of the sorry I got . I stayed in a suite so one of the more expensive rooms , a lot of money for a view of scaffolding and not the gardens.

This is our fifth stay and we love the decor, location and the staff. The rooms are very comfy and we like the Molton Brown toiletries.

The room was amazing and spa was all new and fresh

All of the staff were extremely helpful and very polite throughout our stay. The building and the location speak’s for themselves with stunning scenery and wonderful architecture. Our room was spotless with modern fixtures and fittings. The Spar facilities had recently opened, had been completely refurbished, and were all to a very high standard and very enjoyable. I would say the only slight negative was that some areas of the house were slightly chilly, which is to be expected this time of year and because of the property's size and age. Would I go back again? 100% yes I couldn't fault our stay. P.S. I forgot to mention the most important thing the food, all I can say it was amazing and compliments to the Chef.

Had a fantastic stay lovely suite. Christmas tree in room was a lovely touch.
