The heating was broke and we could not get it to work. The staff were unhelpful or just wasn’t there to help. Room was so stuffy and we could not breathe.

Great hotel

There was a £50 deposit on arrival which had not been mentioned anywhere else so was a shock to have to pay this on arrival. Staff were helpful, some of the stuff was a bit dated & shabby. Room was clean & well stocked. Pleasant enough stay.

Hotel is old and tired, staff are ok but obviously couldn't really care. Restaurant offers food at greatly reduced prices but this is obviously because you would only use it once. Food is pre-prepared and just reheated, Breakfast is terrible - usual pre cooked vaguely warm rubbish. Find somewhere else to stay

Rooms not as big as the pics. Drainage in sink and shower poor. Toilet leaked and it’s pretty noisy. Not sure how it has 4 stars. 2 tops

Noisy, no good noise separation between Hotel rooms, my room had a door leading to another room and it was not locked as I would have expected.

Great room, clean (albeit smelled a bit musty, probably from an old hoover!) but bedding, bathroom - all other facilities were spotless. Bed was comfy, especially if you like a softer bed. TV was even on a movable bracket - always useful. Would certainly stay again given its location to the city too.

Great stay for the 2026 EIHL playoff weekend. Good location, reasonable price and quiet room. What’s not to love?!

The staff were friendly and the amenities including the pool were great. However, the beds were extremely uncomfortable and the pillows were so unsupported meaning it was difficult to sleep each night. Also, during breakfast the drinks and some foods were always empty meaning you’d have to ask and wait for contents to be refilled/ replenished. There was also a private event going on which meant the bar inside the hotel couldn’t be used.

Location is a little out of the centre but in a nice area. Check in was easy and the Room was clean and comfortable. I had a very good night sleep. All was good until breakfast. The breakfast area was filthy, most tables needed clearing when I arrived yet staff were just stood around talking. The breakfast was also dreadful, bacon was undercooked and cold, scrambled eggs were brown, cold beans and hard bread. When staff decided to start clearing tables, they were using a trolley which was absolutely caked in filth and just left it in the middle of the restaurant for diners to see. Wouldn’t stay here again

Room was clean but sparsely furnished Corridors were not cleaned often enough. Bit on the expensive side for room provision but public areas were very 🙏

After getting checked in by a not very helpful member of staff and paying the car parking charge we made our way up to our room via the stairs as one of the lifts was out of service and was a big queue for the other one. We entered the tiny room that you get provided, checked out the bathroom and it was grim, full of mould looks like someone had peed in the shower and just generally untidy. Went back to reception lugging all our stuff back down the stairs to ask for a new room, was met with the same unhelpful staff member who didn’t even seem like she wanted to change our room until the other staff member stepped in and said to change the room. New room wasn’t the best either with some staining on the curtains which I don’t even want to think what it was and a shower which you had to turn off 4 times throughout the shower to let it drain, but we couldn’t be bothered with the hassle of going back down so put up with it. The rooms look very tired and are very small definitely not what you expect from a 4* hotel I assume they only get that rating from the rest of the facilities they provide? Went downstairs to grab our free drink we got given for the problem with the room to be met by a woman on the bar who clearly didn’t want to be in work that day with the reception we got from her! Next morning we got woke up by drums coming from downstairs not sure what was going on, but the rooms are no where near noise proof at all so I recommend bringing some earplugs.

For a good value hotel there was nothing to complain about

The front desk staff was extremely rude upon arrival.

The place is seriously worn down. Carpets can no longer be cleaned, holes in doors only sparsely padded up. a/c so noisy you would rather just freeze or borrow one of their old-style electric heaters. Etc… Staff, however, are so nice and always do their absolute best to accommodate the situation. Apart from powdered scrambled eggs - yack!!! - breakfast is good and diverse

Booked 3 double rooms on the 2nd floor, rooms were smaller than expected with walking space in the entrance quite tight but plenty of hanging soace and desk space. Bathroom was good size and sufficient for 2 adults. There are 2 lifts which are ok size and quite slow to arrive and leave considering the building is only 3 floors high. The hotel has 24/7 reception and staff were very helpful and professional. Parking is plentiful but can get surprisingly full at times. Parking price is £12 for 24 hours which is expected for city centre hotel. There is a nearby parking above the hotel parking which is private and not part of the hotel so beware if you want to park there. Overall clean and pleasant stay, hotel decor is a little outdated in places and brand of hotel suggests it would be better quality but overall it is good quality.

Sauna not working

The room was clean, but the main door didn’t latch on its own and the strike plate was loose. I had to mess with it to get it to latch properly. The shower floor was ultra slippery and the lack of a shower curtain allowed the splashing water to spill out onto the tile floor making getting out treacherous. The soap did was hanging off the wall.The sauna was closed due to repairs and the pool closed early. The
