Staff was great, wasn’t used to the smell reason we could not enjoy the balcony

The staff was absolutely wonderful. We did not have hot water for a day or two (happens often on the island) and when we notified the staff, they were immediately responsive. Zero complaints about the hospitality overall. If you are looking for 5 star quality accommodations, you may be disappointed, but this is no shade on this operation. We are divers and the rooms were just a smidge too small for all our dive gear and suitcases/storage. For a mid-range priced resort, this was good. A/C was on point, beds were comfy. Showers are spacious. We enjoyed the pool and the employees did a wonderful job making us feel welcome, keeping the grounds clean, and helping in whatever way they could. This is one of the many reasons we continue to come back to Belize about every 6 months. We stay some place new every time we come and this was another one we checked off the list! Overall good, it was just me and my husband traveling together. Would recommend to others!

Staff at Mata Rocks is exceptional, from the manager Ernesto to the bartenders and wait staff to the housekeeping staff. They helped with everything - cart rental, snorkel tours, restaurant recommendations... Room was very comfortable (except it needs reading lights for the beds.) Pool was fun and spotless, and the beach area was immaculate. Bonus points for having pickleball courts!

The experience was above expectations and will certainly lay be recommended!

Staff was very helpful. James was an entertaining bartender and Javier was on point with getting our food delivered to our room for us at the end of each day. Mata Rocks had a charming vibe, we feel so lucky to have found it!

I had the pleasure of staying at Meta Rocks – Barefoot again, and this visit truly exceeded all expectations. I first stayed here about a year and a half ago, and honestly, one of the main reasons I chose to come back was because of the incredible service—especially from Javier at the bar. I’m so happy to say he is still just as amazing. Javier goes above and beyond, not only making fantastic drinks but creating an experience that feels personal and memorable. He’s a huge part of what makes this place special. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Zamir at the front desk, who made check-in smooth and inviting. The hospitality here is unmatched—every staff member makes you feel genuinely appreciated and at home. When we walked into our room, we were blown away. They had prepared a beautiful “welcome back” setup (see photos), which was such a thoughtful and personal touch. It immediately set the tone for the entire stay. When I first visited, but they’ve elevated everything since then. The upgrades are stunning—the design, aesthetics, and attention to detail are absolutely beautiful. You can tell they’ve invested in creating not just a place to stay, but an experience. The pool upgrades are gorgeous—such a perfect place to relax, with an elevated, polished feel that really enhances the whole property. And the beach? Absolutely breathtaking. It’s right there, pristine, and consistently free of seagrass, which makes it even more enjoyable & perfect.

Beautiful view of the ocean from the balcony! Clean, well stocked room with plenty of amenities. Staff was warm, friendly, eager to help in any way they could. Couldn’t be happier with our stay at Mata Rocks!

We had an amazing stay at Mata Rocks. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the resort was beautiful. Our room was clean and we were so excited to have a pool right outside our room. We are already planning a trip back and planning on staying here again. 100% recommend!

Tasteful rooms with very comfortable beds. Our room opened onto the pool area that was spotless. Best part of this resort is the restaurant and bar. Food is really good and the bar tender James is wonderful , he is very funny and makes your stay fun! All the staff were excellent and helpful.

The room and staff are superb!

Rooms were clean and nicely kept . And staff very nice and competent . Very comfortable bed and decent little kitchen. Good WiFi A few minor things. I am 6:4 and lamp and fan were low and had to make sure bent over to pass. Shower handle kept falling off. Pool was very nice but a bit small it’s a dip pool not really meant for swimming. There is pickle ball which wasn’t on the Expedia website but nobody played while I was there so it wasn’t an issue. All in all nice place.

Everything is excellent except the location, A little bit far away from downtown San Pedro.
