This was a last minute find for us as the hotels we usually use in Thirsk were busy. What a great decision it was too. Gorgeous setting for the hotel with a lovely welcome and a very clean and comfortable room. Food was excellent with a full breakfast range and we had dinner here one night too which was equally impressive. On the Saturday there was a wedding all day but frankly they had plenty of staff on so you never felt excluded. Yes this meant a short wait at the bar and Sunday morning there was a delay on some breakfast items but they were serving 180 people so totally understandable and didn't spoil the visit. Above all else the reception and dining staff were exceptional. Would recommend to anyone wanting to visit the area especially being a few miles from York.

We didnt get chance to drink or eat at the bar, we checked in around 4pm we wasnt aware that 2 coach parties had also arrived and reception didn’t advise us that maybe it would be best if we booked a table , so we didn’t think anymore about this,when we went down later we couldn’t go in the restaurant as it was full with the coach party & was told to go to the bar & order but when we go to the bar was told we couldn’t order until after 8 o’clock for food this wasn’t convenient the staff member got the manager he wasn’t helpful at all was quite rude & he was the 1who told us to go down to order we felt as if we didn’t matter as being a resident made no difference & the coach party took priority, we then spoke to the manager 10 minutes later to ask for a refund as we were just unhappy with our situation and how we’d been spoken to so felt we couldn’t stay there but was refused a refund ,so after all this we had to drive 8 miles to go and find somewhere to eat so sadly to say we will not be returning to this hotel

Lovely location, very quite room, clean and bed comfortable, nice views, breakfast good choices, pleasant staff, good value for money, would stay again!

Clean room but felt like a hospital/ old folks home feel.

Room was clean although it’s a little dated (repaired hole in bath). Reception check in didn’t make us feel particularly welcome, but other staff were good. Breakfast was basic but fine. Very average. Fine for visiting nearby York and North Yorkshire but not a great place if you want to spend time at your hotel venue. Also, a wedding was on which meant going to the bar that evening felt a little uncomfortable and we didn’t feel comfortable sitting outside on the evening due to the lawn games etc.

Rooms small and out dated , bed and pillows hard , other guests slamming doors and running down corridors old building very echoey, evening meal poor and overpriced, my breakfast was free with the room but not the best. The worst thing is it's in the middle of nowhere and with York races on all the taxis in the area over inflated their prices I was quoted between £35 and £50 to get into York, I cut my stay short I couldn't stay any longer, very poor and overpriced for what I received

Check in staff weren’t very friendly. Our room was big but not the cleanest and the breakfast wasn’t very good - we were only offered tea or filter coffee. All the food had been sat there a while.

Breakfast was fine,, The room was clean, But the room needs a mini fridge

A very pleasant stay. room could have had a fridge and bottled water.

A clean but basic hotel. Ideal for our 1 night stay, to be local to family, but didn't have much comfort or furnishings to elevate it. It was very good value and had everything we needed; a comfortable bed, tea and coffee facilities in the room and big bath sheet towels.

Clean and friendly staff Have to keep the bathroom door closed to avoid setting the alarm off

Lovely hotel with a great breakfast. Room was clean and a good size. Good nights sleep in a peaceful room. Staff on reception were friendly and helpful. Great hotel to stay in if you’re visiting York, which is approximately a 10 minute drive just down the road, where there is a Park and Ride service to take you into the centre.

Lovely place to stay, nice rooms and friendly staff, we used the park and ride daily which was good, and used a taxi for a night out in York

Clean room. Lift available. Bar staff in bar very helpful. Although meals weren't included we had an evening meal which was good. But would have liked more choice ie salads, jackets potatoes etc. Enjoyed our stay. Long walk to the room from the lift for those who with mobility issues.

It what good i like it

The location is good and not too far away from city centre. Although the amenities of the room were dated, they were well maintained. Nice dining area for an ordinary English breakfast but I found they don’t serve whole milk! Overall, I have a good experience there and may consider to visit again.
