It’s ok

I booked this hotel as it had a hot tub and pool. I arrived really looking forward to soaking away my aches and pains. It closed as I arrived at 8pm. I checked the details here and no mention of early closing. My room turned out to have no towels. I found out after already getting undressed for a shower. So after getting redressed I popped downstairs to be asked what was wrong by a staff member. I explained and was asked “did you check in today”. Today I said. Off he goes and comes back asking one towel or two. At no point was any apology made. I felt that I had disyurbed his evening by asking! My room then turned out to not have a thermostat on the shower, so I had a shower that varied between scalding and ice cold. Finally I got to look out of my window at the pool and spa, having the perfect view of the facilities that I couldn’t use. To really finish my evening off the pool pumps and heating were just outside my window. I was kept awake by the noise, which at times could be felt through the bed. I had to turn the main lights out as one was flashing too. Great. Poor bloke on reception seemed to be doing everything including running the bar! Needs more staff! No sleep No pool.

Next room was too noisy til 2am

Room was smelly and a bit grubby. Same with communal areas, needed a bit of a clean. Would be nice to have a few more towels and to have the tea, coffee and milk replenished. Food was okay and good range of drinks. Pool and gym area was great. Never any staff there though so would recommend to bring own dressing gowns and towels. Could do with better lit up signage outside for night time arrivals.

I’m really disappointed to be writing this, especially because I’ve stayed at this hotel before with my friends and had a great experience. That positive visit is exactly why I recommended it to my husband and why we decided to come back. Unfortunately, this stay was nothing like my previous one. When we arrived, the air conditioning and the toilet radiator in our room were not working. We reported it to reception, and the staff member said he would “check the control” and asked us to give it time to heat up. We waited almost three hours with no improvement. A maintenance person was eventually sent, but he couldn’t fix it either. We asked to change rooms, and both the manager and the receptionist assured us that the new room would be the same size with the same view. This was not true. The new room was noticeably smaller, including the bathroom, and the view was of bins and a car garage. They also told us the air conditioning and toilet radiator were working, but the toilet radiator did not work at all during the night or the next morning. The bathroom was freezing, and our belongings were damp. On top of that, we couldn’t sleep because the couple in the room next to us were extremely loud from around 9:30 pm until 4:30 am. Between the cold room, the broken facilities, and the noise, it was impossible to rest. The only positive part of our stay was the spa facilities, which are genuinely good and enjoyable, just as I remembered from my previous visit.

Curious place, some great stuff, friendly staff — really lovely room and great service. Vibe overall is a little strange but nice. It’s not quaint or classy but it’s very comfortable.

Everything first class

Check in easy, room warm. Weirdly slightly sloping so head was downhil a bit. Hard pillows and a slightly old feel to the mattress. Overall a good experience tho as only for one night.

Everything was clean and tidy, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the Spa a great place to relax after a hard days work

It was ok. The staff were nice. However, the rooms are loud, the spa treatments were 5-10 mins late for both me and my partner and the time was not added onto the end. And on the first night, we had no hot water.

in need of new carpets, bed wasn't comfy I'm not tall & my feet hit the bottom board. didn't use the spa as the the rooms were not up to much decided not to go in.

Really great stay. The public areas of the hotel are very welcoming and the grounds surrounding it fabulous. Room very well appointed and spotlessly clean. I used all the spa facilities which were a real bonus. The staff were really courteous and helpful. All in all, thoroughly recommended.

Lovely, quirky, comfortable stay. Didn't get to use the spa but it looked great. Only slight issue was soundproofing, I could hear people running on treadmills in my room. Still, I slept like a baby on the very comfortable bed. The food is excellent too. It is in the middle of nowhere, 25 minutes walk from the nearest bus stop, with no footpaths, so I spent a lot on cabs getting to and from.

The good news is that the gym and pool were both great - the photos on the website don’t do them justice - and the chap on the bar was friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the room itself. The shower was pretty grim, with hairs and a thick build-up of grime that made it hard to feel clean. There was missing grout around the tiles, and the shower fitting was loose and wobbled alarmingly every time we adjusted it. The water temperature was also all over the place - one minute hot, the next freezing - which made showering a bit of a gamble. The bed throw was another low point, with large visible stains and what looked like blood splatters. When we flagged it to reception, we didn’t get an apology or a replacement, just a comment about how hard they are to wash and that finding a replacement throw would be difficult. Not exactly reassuring. On top of that, the walls were paper-thin. We could hear full conversations from the room next door, as well as their blinds opening and closing, plugs pulled in and out, and general movements, so getting a restful night’s sleep wasn’t easy. It’s a real shame, because with such a pretty location and great facilities, this place could be fantastic, but the hygiene and lack of basic care really let it down.

Arrived in a storm so heavy entrance doors proved a challenge in the wind whilst carrying luggage. Once in it was all fine! Spa and pool were excellent.

One of the windows in the bedroom didn't close properly which made temperature control questionable. The shower head didn't function properly, but the water temperature was fantastic. The restaurant is very pleasant with comfortable seating and plants within. The food was prepared well although nothing to write reviews about. The rooms are really quite nice, full of character. The on site gym is really well equipped and the indoor pool is good size. Getting to the sauna and steam room are a little tricky but both are available and not far from the gym
