This was the most charming hotel with so much history and beautiful details. We stayed in the Angel room, which was gorgeous and spacious, and had an amazing view of the mountains. The gardens behind the property were so pretty with little walking paths and waterfalls. We loved the 1920's feel of the property. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Would highly recommend!

Old hotel with a a lot of history.

Et hotell som er blitt renovert i nyere tid. Fantastisk hage, svømmebasseng og spa. Kan virkelig anbefale en tur i spa avdelingen. Her er også en egen royakan som kan benyttes. Svært store rom, med god kvalitet på senger, dyner og klær. Litt for formell frokost etter min smak da det ikke er buffé, men maten er god!

The hotel is beautiful and conveniently located. We enjoyed our stay overall, and the food at Cascade Restaurant was good. However, the restaurant prices were noticeably higher than what we found throughout the rest of our trip. Our room had a slight musty smell, and the air conditioning was not working. The staff was friendly but communication in English was sometimes challenging. Overall, it’s a nice hotel with a great location, but there is room for improvement.

I was wowed. To be honest, pictures don’t do this justice. It’s a place you can get lost in- in the most beautiful way possible. It is the most scenic stay I’ve experienced to date. It inspires poetry and deep thought. It was my brilliant oasis. Thank you! My only qualms were the food- it was bit underwhelming for the price point; however, the dining view, opulence and careful care from staff made up for it a bit.

The hotel is our best experience in Japan.

Property is very nice. Rooms are very large for Japanese rooms. The staff in the reception area were nice but at the same time gave a weird vibe. The hotel itself had a stuffiness of “old money” . Even though the restaurant in the hotel was well reviewed we had a bad experience there. Drinks were messed up as was the servicing of the food. The experience was not good at all. To the point that we cancelled the second reservation that we had in the Japanese restaurant at the hotel. We all got massages and those were very good. Overall, had hoped for a better experience considering it was a five star hotel.

It's very hard to get helpful assistance from the staff who generally just nod and say yes without trying to actually find solutions. Food is quite poor and extremely overpriced. The entire place is all form and no function. I would not stay here.

今回　３泊いたしました。 日本茶の茶葉が、2,3泊めに補充されていませんでした。 接客が人により　バラツキがある。 しかし　車両係りの方々は親切でした。

Really neat old hotel with a lot of history. The spa area was really nice and rooms were clean. There wasn’t much interaction with staff. There were people staying there just didn’t seem like the service was the priority. On our second morning it was really odd they couldn’t seat us for breakfast at 7:45 and we had to wait. This made us late for our driver to leave for the day. Overall it was just ok.

This is a unique property and a total throw back to another time (the main house is from the 1890s). The traditional kaiseki was impeccable, the breakfast was delicious, and the property is gorgeous. Added bonus: hot spring water is piped to your room bath! We had a wonderful weekend hiking and exploring the area (loved the Open Air Museum), and we have already talked about going back on our next trip to Japan. For those of you who know Mohonk in Upstate NY, Fujika evokes a similar vibe. Thank you to the staff! Highly recommend.
