Not really a 4* experience. Room spacious & comfortable. Bathroom clean but cold tap at sink swivelled freely on its base & required two hands to operate: one to control water flow, the other to stabilise the tap itself. WiFi patchy. Smart TV in room, yet only live channels accessible as streaming services eg. iPlayer necessitated password which was not supplied. Internal phone covered in thick dust layer. Noisy as room above bar. Disappointing overall.

Good location with convenient access to the pool and restaurant. Our room was a tad cramped.

When in the area I always choose the Crown, that says it all.

Nice hotel just outside Carlisle. We arrived late for only one night. Breakfast was good and staff was friendly.

I understand click together beds but this is the base with a double mattress on top. However when I booked a double it was 2 singles pushed together with single mattress's not a double at all

Lovely hotel, clean and comfortable room and bar/lounge area is very welcoming. Excellent gym/fitness room and though I didn’t try the pool, jacuzzi, sauna they looked impressive. Very enjoyable stay.

Staff were excellent the property is clean just old, noisy floors and doors old interior but it was fine.

Really nice place to stay. Lovely area for a walk etc too. Nice bar and restaurant. Also, very nice warm pool to swim in with a gym. Food was ok. I think it could be improved a little. But overall a nice place. Would visit again

The hotel is lovely. The only problem with our stay this time was that there was building work going on which was not helpful.

Facilities are great with the fitness centre at this hotel. Comfy bed and friendly staff. Great pub/ restaurant on site. Responsive when we requested a different room. Parking was easy and close. Getting a little old in parts and was a little smoky and musty in parts- but this wouldn’t stop us from staying again. We loved the village of wetheral and found Carlisle a short drive away for supplies.

Disappointed that there was no comminication that the bar /restaurant was under refurbishment on booking. Also lots of whatsApp messages asking time if arrival or time of checking out.

Evening meal long wait, half the food was cold when arrived. Breakfast not busy, long wait for hot food, no salt and pepper on table, no bread or bread rolls for ham, cheese, smoked salmon other than sliced bread for toast.

Everything about the Crown is excellent, Rooms, Staff, Food.

The corridor outside our room had a strong smell of grease, fortunately inside the room was ok. We were wakened from noise in the kitchen around 7am so really not the best room. We were a late arrival and early departure using it as a stop off so took the cheapest room available, I'be stayed here before and would recommend paying for the upgrade as the bigger rooms are much nicer. We arrived around 10pm and went for a drink in the bar, the barmaid closed up after serving us without telling us it was last orders (very early for a Friday night and with 4 separate groups of guests in the bar/lounge area). The very helpful nightshift worker did fix us another couple of drinks.

Lovely place. Need to turn down the thermostat! Breakfast staff not the best.

Bathroom was awful. Long dark hair in bath; grime all around the bath; mould on taps and tiles. Glass window panels had paint on them and paint splashed on floor and radiator. Bedroom window panels big streakes of paint; dirty on paintwork and an ancient dead wasp. Definitely not 4 star. Very disappointed. Positives: friendly staff and nice lounge area

Super clean room, was nicely designed & a warm welcome. Had dinner at the restaurant which unfortunately the service wasn’t great really slow & forgot one of our parties meal & drinks order (I would understand if it was super busy but it wasn’t) but they were friendly in general couldn’t fault that. The hotel was lovely giving really cosy vibes & the receptionist was lovely. Would recommend & the surrounding area is really nice for walks.
