Lovely staff good location by well work facility in need of a major facelift

The staff was excellent. The location was quiet. Areas of interest were a quick cab ride away. I would definitely recommend to any traveller.

The staff was very helpful.

Single bed was tiny set in middle of room. Window wouldnt open and when opened has no stopper and it kept falling and closing and it was hot day. Very uncomfortable stay. Couldn’t sleep all night. Breakfast was terrible. No hot food just cold boiled eggs and cold cheese. Coffee was terrible. Waste of money

Bathroom in Rm. 1 is in need of some work about the tub. Mouldy and ugly

The staff was nice the accommodations were three star, maybe less. Our room had a broken down couch-bed they reclaimed as a second bed, there is no way anyone could sleep on it. The beds were also haphazard made.

This is a historical property. Beautiful iron railings, high ceilings. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Will draw you a map and write directions. No AC, No elevator. But if you want authentic, this is the place.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Edinburgh Thistle. The staff Andrew and Neil were really welcoming, helpful, personable and couldn't do enough for us - especially Andrew (what a sweetie) The property was in a nice location. A 20 minute walk into the shopping district and a 30 minutes walk to the royal mile and historic areas. The property - although very dated had character but unfortunately the bathroom was the most disappointing bit. There was mould all around the grouting - a simple fix. And the bath tub was unusable for a bath as the taps were only useable as a shower. This would have been welcomer after a long day on our feet. We stayed on the top floor having requested a twin room and there were 78 steps to the top. Which is fine but we wouldn't recommend if you have mobility issues. We didn't have breakfast there so couldn't comment on that but the coffee was nice. The Pillows in our room were quite unusable also. One rock hard and huge and the other thin and lank. Overall we had a lovely stay. I would say that the price we paid did not reflect in the quality of the hotel especially as we didn't have breakfast included but we enjoyed the staff and our time there nonetheless.

This was a beautiful and charming hotel. The front desk guys both morning and evening (sorry forgot your names) were so welcoming and friendly. They both were full of great information about the town along with wonderful recommendations for dinner. We will definitely be visiting again, thank you for everything!

This hotel is in terrible condition. The comforter and chair had stains on them. The shower was also stained with some red stuff, there was also rust in the bathroom, holes in the ceiling, torn carpet, the TV did not work, and there was a log holding the window up. I also killed a big brown spider in room 28. Very awful experience!

Staff was great. Very friendly and helpful (and each also wore many hats). Nice breakfast but staff was limited and unable to keep up with replenishment. Room we had was charming, (which also means not very updated). Almost impossible to keep water off the floor during showers. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, and that was because the staff's efforts.

Court séjour à Edinburgh avant de partir plus au nord. Cet hotel est vétuste mais bien entretenu, et le personnel est affable. Et surtout cet hôtel est à quelques minutes à pieds des quartiers centraux: Princes Street et Ros street. Ce fût un plaisir de retrouver ces rues, ainsi que le Royal Mile et le chateau. De plus la ville était dans la pleine effervescence du festival d'été.

The accommodation wasn’t really up to standard, but the staff were great.

Es war eun schönes hotel, jedoch ohne Parkplätze, das war sehr schwierig, ein einziger Parkplatz für 1 auto gehört zum hotel, dieser ist aber noch 2 ecken weiter...ansonsten alles ok

Accueil sympathique et beaux escaliers mais pas d'ascenseur. Grande chambre mais nous avons trouvé des cheveux dans la salle de bain, le robinet était à moitié cassé, aucun débit d'eau dans la douche et l'état général des équipements n'était pas satisfaisant (très vieux et abîmés). L'isolation de ma fenêtre était faîte au Scotch. Décevant par rapport aux photos.

The facility was clean and the staff were very nice.

Great service, great breakfast, great location, the property and rooms a little run down and could do with a little upkeep - however, would come back next time in town
