Good value hotel, right on the seafront and a short drive into the city centre. Nice bar and restaurant facilities

Too many stairs to negotiate with heavy fire doors - a necessity I know but difficult to open with luggage and bags in hand. Bed comfortable but pillows uncomfortable at best. Staff were pleasant. Buffet breakfast was not as hot as it should have been and very little of anything.

Great location, nice bar/restaurant area & a good selection of larger & Guinness no cask on the hand pull. Rooms little dated, but for the price you can’t grumble as it’s clean & functional

The staff were nice and welcoming and the room we had was nice with a great view of the sea & pier however the bed/mattress was very uncomfortable and the extraction in the bathroom was very noisy. Unfortunately not somewhere we would stay again.

A couple of nights stay in April. We came up from London and arrived a couple of hours early, hoping to either check in early or at the very least that our bags could be held at reception, as you can in some hotels but not here. You can register your car for the car park, and the use of the bar & restaurant. Once checked into our standard room without a sea view, be prepared for a long walk and a few stairs to your room, but once in the room it is clean and well presented. Breakfast on the weekend, if you're like us and you like a slightly later breakfast, you'll be ok. The staff are friendly and helpful. Worth a stay if you're going Sunderland.

Place was quiet despite a wedding party

The hotel location is great and overlooking the sea. Staff were great, hotel looking tired in places. I had room 137 in the basement, I moved rooms as the mattress was awful. The new room 139 was ok but yet again the mattress was awful which made for a poor night's sleep. There was also an awful noise at various times of water tanks or something filling up. At nearly £200 for two nights I would expect far better.

Creaky floor boards, Creaky beds, one bedroom above and one either side. Late night revellers.

Clean room, nice staff. I’d prefer a bigger TV in the room and a walkin shower instead of the tub.

First time staying on business, asked for a fifty pound deposit in case I cause damage to the room ? I travel throughout the UK never been asked before for a deposit for the room. Went to the downstairs pub for a drink and some food, told the barman I was a resident and could I open a tab, barman refused saying I might run off without paying? Food awful left the meal and will not be returning.
