We had a wonderful stay at The Egerton House Hotel in London, and it was honestly one of the most charming hotel experiences we have had.
This is a hotel with real old-world London character in the best possible sense. It does not feel like a cold, generic luxury hotel. Instead, it feels personal, elegant, and full of warmth, with that classic style of service that is becoming harder and harder to find.
The service throughout our stay was exceptional. The front desk staff were consistently kind, helpful, and genuinely eager to assist with anything, whether it was restaurant reservations, recommendations for things to do, or help at almost any hour of the day. It was the kind of place where people really seemed to care. On rainy days they offered umbrellas, they often made an effort to open the door for guests, and there were even complimentary chocolates available, which was such a lovely touch.
Breakfast was one of the highlights of our stay. It was easily one of the best hotel breakfasts I have had, with delicious cooked-to-order dishes as well as excellent quality throughout. The breakfast staff were absolutely lovely. They always asked how we were, made an effort to have a pleasant conversation, and showed genuine interest in the guests, which made the mornings feel especially welcoming. We also appreciated the daily newspapers, which added to the classic atmosphere. A few breakfast dishes that really should not be missed are the healthy cookies, the Moroccan eggs, and the Eggs Benedict.
The hotel bar is small and elegant, and the cocktails were excellent, with a real old-fashioned sense of quality and care.
The room itself was slightly traditional in style, but that is part of the charm. You can clearly feel that the materials used throughout the hotel are of a very high standard. Even small details, like the heavy cast fixtures in the bathroom, gave a sense of real quality. The bed was outstanding, extremely comfortable, and the sheets were some of the best I have ever slept on in any hotel. The toiletries were also genuinely some of the best I have come across, not just nice for a hotel, but actually exceptional.
Housekeeping was flawless. Every day the room was arranged beautifully, and they even carefully organized our personal toiletries, which made everything feel especially thoughtful and polished.
The location is also very convenient, especially with its proximity to Knightsbridge station.
Overall, The Egerton House Hotel was a real pleasure. Yes, the rooms may feel slightly traditional, but everything is done with such quality, care, and personality that it only adds to the experience. It is a beautiful hotel for anyone who appreciates true hospitality, comfort, and that rare old London atmosphere.
