Everything was fine. The breakfast chef called in sick but the hotel dealt with it well and soon got a stand-in chef. Nice hotel calm peaceful atmosphere and very helpful friendly staff.

Courteous staff and comfortable clean room

Clean room. Excellent coffee machine with biscuit and milk stations all around the hotel . Breakfast was good too.

The staff here really make you feel at home. Add that to excellent food, comfy & quiet room and great location for exploring Ecclesall Road and you've got yourself a winner.

Clean room and helpful staff plus a good breakfast

We have stayed at the Halifax several times. We found that our recent visit wasn’t as that great. Generally cigarette smoke could be smelt on the ground floor. The refreshment counters seemed not to have the variety of teas and water wasn’t available. I had to go searching for some decaf tea, there was lots of fruit tea. The carpet in our room and in hallways could do with a vacuum. The shower had lots of black mould in both rooms. The communal toilet in reception the floor had been cleaned but was soaking wet, it needed dry mopping after. The most disappointing was breakfast, selection was less, pastries were stale. Generally the service, selection and food wasn’t as good as previously. My son had a bacon sandwich with very dry over cooked bacon and no butter on the bread. Service wasn’t great and the young lady had an attitude when I wanted to make a change my order. All came up cold, over cooked and dry. Plus I had the bonus of a thick hair in mine, which I showed the team, but had no reply.

Really nice room room in the johnson suite, very quiet and comfortable and a good sized queen bed. Breakfast was also pretty decent

Staff were great. Nice room (was a little cold when we arrived ( had 3 external walls) so we were given an extra heater, which we were grateful for). Parking easy. Breakfast plentiful and dinner choices very good. Loved the coffee machine and refill station with extra touch of biscuits/treats. All the staff were very polite and helpful. Quiet site as outside of term time, so no students about.

Lovely hotel, very friendly staff

This is a gem of a hotel. Clean warm room. Extra tea bags & milk as and when you need them which is a great touch. Lovely breakfast. Would recommend.

We stayed for 2 nights over Christmas. The barrier to get into the complex didn’t work and there was no response from the button at the side, so we had to phone the hotel to get in. We were given room 313 but there was no lift. We are in our late 70s and had to climb up the stairs with all our luggage and Christmas parcels. The room and bathroom were large but soulless with inadequate lighting. Although it was warm downstairs, our room was cold as the radiators weren’t working. The television didn’t work either and nor did the internet. We were given a small electric heater which was completely inadequate as there was a heavy frost outside. We had to put on extra clothes and get into bed to keep warm. The bathroom had no heat at all and was freezing cold. At 2am we woke to find the radiator on, but it was off again by the morning, which is when we found that the coffee machine didn’t work and the toilet roll holder fell apart. We have never stayed in such an awful hotel and it completely spoilt our Christmas stay in Sheffield.

Everything was spot on, welcoming, courteous and friendly. The young man even asked if we had enjoyed Christmas Day with our family. The room was spotless and comfortable. There was even fresh milk available.

Staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to park up and check in early. The hotel was warm and welcoming, our room comfortable, clean and well equipped. Our breakfast was excellent.
