Great site, lovely views, excellent staff and excellent food. Because of its age there were some more modern touches needed. The gardens were well looked after & had beautiful flowers. Our bathroom shower needed some modernisation. Very close to the seafront and reasonable close to the town. The outdoor swimming pool looked very nice.

Really nice hotel and we really enjoyed relaxing in the beautiful gardens / pool area, however our room was directly above a very noisy kitchen fan which started (and woke us up) before 6.30am and didn’t turn off until 9.30pm.

I had a wonderful stay at The Royal Hotel. It’s a charming, elegant property with beautiful grounds and a perfect location. The atmosphere is calm and refined, and the staff were consistently pleasant, friendly, and eager to help. My room was larger than expected, with a very comfortable king‑sized bed. Some parts of the décor are a little worn, but in a way that feels more like gentle ageing than neglect — it doesn’t take away from the hotel’s character at all. On one day the hotel was clearly short‑staffed and the team were under pressure, but they handled it admirably. Seeing how hard they were working made it easy to be patient. A beautiful hotel with real charm.

Very nice period property worth the stay in the island. Very dog friendly with nice touches for the furry friend on arrival. Would stay again.

The hotel is a beautiful building. The surroundings as well. The staff is very professional. However, the rooms need more maintenance and the cleanliness is average.

Bedrooms look tired. Lack of ventilation in bedroom coridors led to some very unpleasant odours. Breakfast was superb

Room was very dated & poor value for money. The steps down to the ensuite were positively dangrerous! Safety restraint on window broken as was the toilet seat. As for the parking arrangements - shambolic.

Not much water pressure from the taps or shower and the bedroom window was very dirty on the outside but overall the service and facilities were very good. Gardens a pleasure to sit in, really cared for.

The property is very convenient and the area is very nice with adorable view . However I think that the property still needs some improvement and renovation concerning the rooms
