Very comfortable bed in a hotel full of olden day charm

I was very pleased with our stay at the George, room was perfect for our needs, large room comfy bed

This being our 3rd time we have visited The George, on the first night the shower wasn't working properly so we moved to another room. Then there was no heating or water on the next night. Not being able to wash was awful. The staff were excellent and the food was very good. Management kindly compensated us for these inconveniences

Kept up most the night with the smoke alarms going off every 10 minutes applied for a refund and was denied one . Which I find appalling

Rooms are very tired and small. Chair broken, Shower in poor condition, lighting broken, wallpaper peeling off, Wifi very slow. Not a pleasant experience. Staff were excellent when I spoke to them about the room, however unable to resolve. Would not stop here again as the price charged does not reflect the room.

Firstly i certainly can't complain about the staff, they were fantastic. The hotel itself was a bit of a dump. There floors were uneven and every step you made was greated with creaking floor boards. The decor was old and tired with various ceacks in the walls, ceilings, doorframes etc. Bathrooms were usable but ceratinly in need of modernisation. Overall the hotel itself needs a full refurb but it beats sleeping in your car or on a park bench.

Unfortunately, the conditions of my stay were far from satisfactory, and I am requesting a full refund for the experience. The following issues were encountered during my visit: 1. **Excessive Noise from Water System**: Every time the water ran through the system, whether in the room or from neighbouring rooms, there was an unbearably loud noise, which disrupted my rest multiple times throughout the stay. 2. **Inadequate Curtains**: The curtains in the room were ineffective at blocking light. I had to keep the windows open for ventilation, which meant that I could not achieve complete darkness in the room. This caused discomfort and disrupted my sleep. 3. **Exposed Electrical Cables**: There were exposed electrical cables sticking out of the wall near the headboard of the bed. This was not only unsightly but also raised serious safety concerns. 4. **Bed Bugs**: Most concerning of all, I discovered bed bugs in the room. This issue is a serious health and hygiene concern and, in my opinion, completely unacceptable for any hotel, particularly one that claims to offer quality accommodations.

Excellent service. Very old building so there a few things that are as best as they can be but are not what you may expect. For example, the tub is higher than normal and would be problematic if you are older. Heat seemed to be missing except in the bathroom. Still, we would easily stay there again when we return.

We had a fantastic huge room and bed with a large ensuite bathroom equipped with bath and double shower. The building is old so sloping floors etc expected, its like an aladdins cave, but we were happy with food, breakfast was a great portion and lots of choice. We had dinner too and a good price for what we had. All the staff were friendly and accommodating.

Lovely staff, little bit dated perfect for an overnight day

Room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. Could do with redecorating. The bathroom definitely needed renovation, but expected for the price paid.

Excellent for us, as a base to explore properties around Swaffham.

Plenty of parking, building and reception looked clean and well maintained. However - price charged not price quoted & booked online and once into original part of hotel things didn't look so good. Paintwork throughout needs completely renewing. Being an old building we accept that layout can be 'quirky' but not only did floors creak, everything else did! - bed, chair doors, headboard (not even attached to bedframe). Bathroom was miniscule, though usable, but concerned if had this room in middle of winter how cold it would be as no visible signs of heating? Room and bathroom overall clean but tired and very basic for £101. Breakfast was good (included in price) and available from 7am which suited us as we had a long journey. If you cosider £101 reasonable we had spent the previous night elsewhere at a guest house and paid £85 for far superiour everything! We use Best Western quite a bit around the country and feel that standards have slipped since lockdown and have not improved. Meal in bar was lovely and all items reasonably priced.

The service for food was poor, kept waiting for over and hour while other people were being served. They did wave the food cost after I complained.

Comfortable, clean room. Good beverage & toiletries in room. Very good for overnight or short stay. Reception staff friendly & helpful.

Average hotel with no frills - requested an iron but porter ‘had never been asked for one before’ and couldn’t find one - not the level of service expected from a Best western hotel. Room was clean but uncomfortable bed and pillows and poor flow to shower Will avoid in future which is a shame as in a very convenient location

Tired decor, bed only OK, hard thin pillows. Shower good. Check in OK. Grumpy staff at breakfast. OK vfm, would stay again but only if other options not available

Good location and ease of parking. Good food and pleasant bar and lounge area. Staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in need of some general updating and refurbishment, but the room was very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. We would happily choose to stay here again.
