We were very happy with our stay at the apartment. It’s a good size, & comes with every facility you could expect. It truly is a home away from home. We had a minor issue with WiFi, but the location has 4G (LTE) signal. And I assume the situation has been resolved by now. The best beach nearby is Playon de Bayas. It can be windy; bring a parasol & a wind-break and you can spend hours in the sun. There is excellent access to the motorway network, and we took advantage of that to visit Gijón (a beach resort), Oviedo (shopping & bars), and a couple of trips to León. (The A-66 motorway is spectacular [toll €13.15, bargain].) Avilés itself is an active industrial port town with a charming ‘old town’ but we spent little time in Avilés, and really only used the local Hipercor. Things to accept before you book the apartment: 1. You must have a car. The apartment is an excellent base, but there is nothing to occupy you in the hamlet of La Braña. 2. Nearby is a little local meat smoking business. Some traffic is associated with the business. 3. The building is directly below the flight path to the nearby regional airport; your mileage may vary in relation to whether you find that exciting or annoying. 4. Sound may travel between the apartments. 5. Enjoy yourself; wherever you go, there you are. We arrived with an open mind and open eyes. We really enjoyed ourselves.
